This morning, the D&D team and Magic's Studio X informed our leadership of our intent to unionize. We love the games we make and the work we do, and unionizing is how we protect that work. unitedwizardsofthecoast.com/news/dnd-stu...

Ooohh this is a really good chance for me to talk about some of my favorites in the genre! Little thread of recs ๐

9 - The Sรฉance of Blake Manor by @spookydoorway.bsky.social Just finished this game. The puzzles weren't my favorite, but the intrigue, story, and detective-work are amazing. It truly feels like you are a detective searching for clues. Check it out!

7 - Contradiction: Spot the Liar Continuing the camp train, this is just a fun time. It's cheesy, and it's not that hard, but it's fun the whole way through. There's just something about FMV games that charms me. We constantly quote lines from this game at each other ๐ค
8 - The Roottrees are Dead A good short detective game. Interesting fact finding mechanic, and scratches that cork board/conspiracy board itch.

5 - Ghost Trick This one might feel out of left field, but if anyone has ever tried to tell you how great this old game is, they're right. Just rock solid game design through the whole experience. And the story legitimately surprised me with how much I got into it. <3 missile the dog
6 - Nancy Drew This one is for me. I grew up with these games, and coming back to them as an adult has been enlightening. In a lot of ways they really hold up, and they're a fun, campy experience. It's my dream to make my own Nancy Drew game someday.

3 - Lorelai and the Laser Eyes by @simogo.com Just an incredible experience. The best "vibes" in a detective game, the most tactile feeling puzzles, and the best ending I've maybe ever seen in a game. I want every game to feel like this one.
4 - Return of the Obra Dinn I think we all know this game is incredible by now. If you haven't played it, please go do it. This is my go-to game to show to non "gamers" to help them understand what I love about games.

Number 1 - I have to start with Her Story by @mrsambarlow.bsky.social Absolutely one of the best detective games. Its core game mechanic is very clever, it seems simple at first then very quickly you'll start to see just how deep it goes. I'm forever chasing the high of this game!
2 - Case of the Golden Idol A very different type of whodunnit. The game gives you all the info you need in unexpected ways, and relies on you to make logical conclusions in a way that some other detective games don't. The DLC is almost even better then the base game, especially Lumerian Vampire.
You are up to date.
