Students skipping meals, accumulating debts, and sleeping in their cars because of unpaid mandatory placements. I’m pleased to stand alongside hardworking medical and allied heath students to expand the paid prac scheme to include the next generation of healthcare workers our communities need.

I welcome the joint WA Police, AFP and ASIO investigation into the shocking incident targeting the Invasion Day rally in Perth on 26 January. It is vital First Nations peoples and those who stand with them can express their views free from fear or violence. #auspol

Grok’s ’spicy mode’ is being used to make child sexual abuse material. The Aust govt is not addressing this, or my AI/CSAM bill, which would be an important step forward to keep our kids safe. #auspol www.afr.com/technology/m...

I support Australia’s recognition of Palestinian statehood as part of a two-state solution. There are challenges ahead & Hamas must play no ongoing role. Like so many in Curtin, I call for a ceasefire, upholding international law, releasing hostages & distribution of aid. #auspol

Is there any good argument for allowing Australians to possess or distribute custom built AI tools to create child sex abuse material? There are 34 of these tools - we must follow the UK and make it an offence to possess or distribute them. #auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2025-07...

Frank & fearless advice from Treasury is good news. The need for tax reform is no surprise- we are happy to talk about tax cuts, but the money must come from somewhere. We won’t meet the housing target - govt must focus on how to get there. #auspol t.co/7zR6tXRQ6L

If 3/4 of AFL agents say gambling is a problem for their players, what hope do our kids have, who look up to them? Banning gambling ads would be a great first step to challenge the normalisation of gambling in sport. Now is the time. #auspol

My Fair and Transparent Elections Bill would make this dodgy practice illegal by removing political party exemptions to the Spam Act and the Privacy Act. But the parties blocked it. How can we rebuild trust in politicians when they do this? #auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2025-04...

The major parties agree on ~99% of the forward estimates. The only difference between them is the flavour of their sugar hits. Mr Dutton could be bold on tax reform, but instead we get $6b in debt-funded fuel excise cuts. We must drag the parties to tax reform. #auspol

Energy plan? What energy plan? Peter Dutton wants to override scrutiny on major projects, reverse the support we need to build our future energy sector and waste billions of taxpayer dollars on his nuclear fantasy. #auspol

We’ve always had cyclones, but climate change is making them worse. We hear today that Cyclone Alfred cost us $1.2bn - mitigation and adaptation makes economic sense. This is not an issue that’s going away. #auspol

Dutton wants to unwind Work From Home arrangements for public servants-a blatant attack on working parents! Like so many mums in Curtin, I’ve spent 19 years juggling kids and work. How does WFH allow you to be a better employee and a better mum? #auspol www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Coal Australia: ‘The nation cannot afford a minority government propped up by a crossbench of vested interests’ Gambling lobby agrees. So more $ from them to major parties. #shameless #comedy #auspol

So-called ‘electoral reform’ has been pushed through the House this morning - debate on the major party stitch-up was gagged - both parties terrified of any scrutiny. They are losing public support so changing the rules to prevent future competition. A sad day for Australian democracy. #auspol

About time! There’s so much opportunity for WA to prosper in a decarbonising world and production tax credits will kickstart and derisk our transition. After much prompting, we now have the legislation passed. Now we just need to implement it. Let’s go WA. #auspol

The govt and the opposition just got together to vote for mandatory minimum sentencing for hate crimes. Hate crimes need serious consequences but courts should decide sentences, based on all the circumstances. It’s called separation of powers. #auspol

I am absolutely horrified to see anti-Semitic graffiti in Dalkeith. This has no place in our community or in any community. This is a hateful crime and I urge anyone with any information to contact police immediately.

Sometimes you just have to giggle. What do you think made me a radical extreme communist? Working as a corporate lawyer? Advising Australia’s biggest companies at BCG? A strategic role at Australia’s then biggest employer, Wesfarmers? The actual radical extreme communists must be horrified! #auspol

Some of my favourite people have sparkly brains! 🪩 ✨Great to be at the launch of the 1st national autism strategy in Nedlands today with members of the oversight council. Priorities=Economic empowerment, social connection, diagnosis support & community awareness #autism #auspol

So glad @sculpturebysea will be funded at Cott for a few years as a tourism event. This provides a window to find sustainable long term funding from fed/state/local govt & donors. This great event benefits all of Perth & shouldn’t have to lurch from election to election relying on political promises

It’s not us, it’s you. If you move to the right, you leave a space in the centre. @PaulFletcherMP should see the community independent movement is caused by the Libs abandoning liberal values, not an ‘elaborate plot by left wing political operatives’! #auspol www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

. There are 3 pages of exemptions to the definition of ‘gift’ (i.e. what has to be disclosed): subscriptions, memberships, levies on staff, bequests, loans, etc. But I’m sure that's all legit. 😊

While the transparency part is long overdue, replacing political donors with taxpayer $ locks in the 2 party system. The ALP and LIB ‘electoral reform’ deal needs proper scrutiny- rushing it through threatens future political competition. #auspol #electoralreform

You are up to date.
