The Empire State Building went pink at exactly 9:25pm for Dolly Parton. Because of course they made it 9 to 5. That’s how you honor an icon. 🩷

Dolly Parton did all the good she could, for all the people she could, for as long as ever she could. From her legendary songwriting to the Imagination Library—which sent 1 million books a month to children across the country—she was the best of America. Dolly, we'll miss your great heart.

Ice says that these electric gloves are meant to "maintain compliance." Slave owners used to say the same thing about whips. If using shock collars on dogs is Animal Cruelty and Abuse, how is it fine for ICE to use Shock Gloves on people?

The effective federal corporate income tax rate: 1950: 50% 1990: 25% 2020: 13% Stop asking "but how we will pay for it?" Restore the corporate tax rate. That is how we will pay for it.

Not only all this, but how do you just learn how to use your imagination to create a world, with characters, relationships, stakes, jeopardy, joy, all of it? We need to stop this destruction and digitization of books. Period.

After today's shameful display of medical McCarthyism, imagine the next pandemic. Imagine that world's foremost expert on infectious diseases considering jumping in to help millions of people. We are in a deeply dark and disturbing place for the future of science. And for the future, period.

A lot of people don’t realize the dust bowl wasn’t a natural phenomenon. It happened when agrobusiness interests dramatically transformed the plains without regard for drought, and created vicious dust storms that choked whole families to death. That’s what I think of when I read about data centers.

An excellent thread 🧵 on getting feedback as a writer. I always get feedback. Always. I think you need to know whether or not your story makes sense outside of your own head. But I have a friend who never gets feedback. Never. His choice, I guess. What say you?

You wrote something. And then you rewrote it. And you got it in a place where you think it’s decent. Maybe even really good? But then a voice in your head says, “Or maybe you’re delusional and this sucks!” So what do you do? This week’s #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread is on GETTING FEEDBACK. 🧵1

“You said the 2020 election was rigged by either Venezuela or China. When you called that fella in Georgia pleading for 11,780 votes, was that part of the rigging, or part of the 6-year investigation? Just one more thing, sir, who was president while all this rigging took place?”

Socialism is what they called public power. Socialism is what they called social security. Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations. Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people. —Harry Truman, 1952

Here’s a crazy idea: if a corporation wants to build a data center, they should also be required to construct renewable resource mechanisms to operate it—not funded by the public, but from the mountains of wealth they already possess.

Trump had the voting machines switched out in all the swing states plus and Musk uploaded the voting data through his Starlink, inserted a Macro to find the name Harris and insert the name Trump. Easy easy, Trump was elected. We have an illegitimate president.

Remember when trump promised to lower prices, cut utility bills in half, and make life affordable? Now it's: "I love the inflation." "Affordability is a hoax." “No one gives a **** about housing.” Turns out the hoax was trump's whole campaign.
