The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

Lula’s win is the first good news for the planet in a while! I bet it shaves a tenth of a degree off how hot our earth eventually gets, which will save millions of lives Thank you Brazil!

Growing up in CO, I saw a bear (not THIS bear) in the wild only once: across a river I was hiking along. The bear went that way, I went this way. My best bear story (not THIS bear): from Aspen. Guy gets a call from his boss to come help clean up a bear mess. 1/3

Kyle Clark@kylec.bsky.social

The victim in Colorado's 12th bear attack of the year took a stand for humanity and opened a can of whoop-ass on the bear.

The boss and his family were not home and a bear managed to open a sliding door on the patio by the pool, made his way to the fridge (too many bears have learned about both doors and fridges), opened the freezer and pulled out a carton of chocolate ice cream. 2/3

Mr. Bear dragged the carton across the floor (big mess), and back out to the pool area where he helped himself to the the full carton (more mess), broke a couple lounge chairs, and then messily cooled off in the pool. By the time the family returned, Mr. Bear was long gone. 3/3

Obama: "That well-known evil empire Canada. That historical adversary of ours. Canada! *laughs* It's your neighbor. It's a few minutes' drive over the bridge! These are the people who gave us Martin Short and maple syrup. They are the nicest people! And someone we've gotten them so mad."

Look at the size of this enormous march today in Brazil for Lula! Brazil’s election on Sunday is central to the major battles of our time: stopping the far-right, defending social progress and fighting climate change. The world needs Lula!✊🌹

This is very significant book. The chaos (including vast unemployment) is the plan, so is the destruction of U.S. sovereignty. The techbroligarchs see themselves future kings of a patchwork of regional corporate states. The future they're pushing to bring on is technofascist.

Donald Trump was in Dalton yesterday… oblivious to the collapse of his presidency. A crowd smaller than this one endured two hours of senile babbling while the price of oil hit its five month high.

Just like back in the day, there are gradations: the 100% diehard enthusiasts, those who unthinkingly "go along," those who are simply passive and/or too fearful to resist in any measure. Fascism can happen anywhere. Democratic nation-states are vulnerable because a majority can be gullible.
