After binging @ologies.bsky.social for months finally hit 1 that was frustrating. An older academic, when asked twice how he managed to publish so much, credited it to getting lots of sleep, exercising, and relaxing? Not a single word to acknowledge the wife that managed the kids/household? Rough.

For years folks have told me I need to get into @ologies.bsky.social. I always knew I would like it but I didn’t know when to jump in. As a completist I really need to listen to all of them so I finally had a lull in audiobooks and decided to start from the beginning last month. I’m about 60 in…

But when I saw the #menopause part 1 ep pop up this week I knew I had to check it out and it was SO GREAT. Thank you @alieward.bsky.social. As someone who was just diagnosed with #perimenopause it’s so nice to see this start getting more attention! Everyone check out this episode!!! #WomensHealth

I have officially connected with the author who won my consultation and I am already SO EXCITED TO READ THEIR BOOK!!! @romancingthevote.com #VotingRights #WildlifeBiology

We have reached the point of the summer king tide season that the Santa Venetia Marsh berm is overtopping. We are about a month out from the highest summer tides. Remember that in the summer king tides happen at night!! @kingtides.bsky.social #KingTides #SanFranciscoEstuary #SFBay #SeaLevelRise

The Bay Area chptr of TWS is hosting a mixer that will double as a info/recruitment session for the board. If you have ever wanted to get involved in professional service by serving on the board of a non-profit this is a really easy way to get your foot in the door. It's fun & great for prof dev. 👇

Last night we saw a #GrayFox and #Raccoon walking across the road, seemingly #foraging together. We passed in the car and the fox came back to look at something in the road and the raccoon waited for him. Has anyone document these species foraging together in California yet? Video👇

Hello all. The TWS Bay Area Chapter Diversity Committee will be hosting a casual hang out for anyone who is interested March 23 at 1:00 PM at Faction Brewery. We are hoping for a sunny day so we can have a picnic outside. Its free and open to everyone. Please feel free to pass on details. 🔗👇

Hey #Mammalogists, I would like to submit a proposal for the 2025 Wildlife Society conference in Edmondton. I've been wanting to do a Symposium on conservation of peri-aquatic special-status mammals. Salt marsh harvest mouse, Amargosa vole, Perdido Key beach mouse, etc. Anyone interested? #TWS

Hey #hydrology folks! Seeking recommendations for in situ saline water flow/velocity monitoring equipment. Right now looks like Badger Meter is most common for research. I would appreciate any insights folks have about brands to favor or avoid. Including a SMHM doing hydro stuff for visibility. 🧂🐁

Sometimes I look at historic aerials and see all of the Bay Area cities build on fill, on top of marshes, and I cannot comprehend that they could source, transport, grade, and compact that much fill in the short time that those communities were built. Why can't we fill tidal restorations that fast?

King tides coupled with tornado-warning-strength west winds means our East Bay marshes are getting hammered with extraordinarily high tides, some of which are extremely vulnerable already (esp those on the Richmond Shoreline). Think good thoughts for our salty little endangered friends out there. 🧂🐁

#BayArea friends! Please join us tonight for this #WesternTWS diversity+ community hang at 6 PM, Almanac Beer Co in Alameda! Snacks and some drinks will be provided! I made fried green tomatoes! Spread the word!
