January 6th is destined to prove its importance by virtue of how little it mattered.

Here’s something you can do to make sure Jack Smith’s draft report on Donald Trump’s crimes isn’t suppressed.

Figured I’d hop on here today for the 15th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act. With everything going on right now, it’s easy to feel like regular folks can’t make a difference – but the ACA is a reminder that change is possible when we fight for progress.

And if you’re an associate, announce tomorrow your plans to leave. There are so many better places to work, in the City and elsewhere. You’ll be glad that you did. And all you headhunters out there, get on those phones first thing!

Paul Weiss, pathetic. Stop doing business with this law firm, folks. Reward people and organizations that stand strong and don't bend the knee. www.semafor.com/article/03/1...

A law firm that negotiates with terrorists and capitulates to fascists is one that no one should ever be involved with under any circumstances. Not as an employee, not as a client, not even with respect to those publications and analysts that rank firms. You don't rank a gaggle of cowardly lackeys.

The Dems get elected, clean up a Republican mess, the country prospers, the GOP, who wants people sick, scared and stupid, lies that Dems are bad, people believe them, Dems get blamed for poor messaging, lose election, GOP screws the economy, people are shocked, Dems get elected, clean up mess…

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House. We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication. They own what happens next.

Do we think it's as simple as this? Wall Street is panicked over the tariffs and is begging Senate Democrats (and promising them fat checks in exchange) to stabilize the economy and not allow the government to be shut down. Both NY senators cave and sell us out to Elon Musk.

A little over a month ago the Conservatives were as much as 27 points ahead. These latest polls show the Liberal party is slightly ahead with Carney as the likely new leader. Carney still has a long way to go to prove himself but he's in the game now at least. globalnews.ca/news/1103474...

Trump’s second-term honeymoon is ending fast. His approval is plummeting, his policies are unpopular, and even some Republicans are pushing back. The cracks are showing, and there’s no hiding it. Catch up on the latest with The Big Picture's 'Week In Wins.'

thinkbigpicture.substack.comOur Wins Of The WeekNow that we’re more than a month into this deranged lunatic’s second term, the cracks are starting to show.

First of all, how is a trade war with a NATO ally like Canada good for national security? Secondly, inflation may not matter if you're a billionaire but for most people it sure as hell does. Finally, can at least one of you grow a f**king spine?

Is it fine to call everyone who voted for this president racist, bigoted fuckwads, or are people still trying to pretend this had something to do with groceries??

At least some of those 66% voted for the guy. So they don't have much conviction about the convictions.

Bill Kristol@billkristolbulwark.bsky.social

“One poll found 59% of adults oppose pardoning people who “forced their way into the Capitol.” Two separate surveys found 66% and 62% opposition to pardoning anyone “convicted” in the attack on the Capitol. A poll from Quinnipiac found 59% of registered voters opposed…” www.cnn.com/2025/01/20/p...

It's going to require a leader because most of these Dems in Congress are sheep.

Secular Talk @kylekulinskishow.bsky.social

Trump pardoning 1,500 January 6th rioters including VIOLENT ones is a dark indication of what's to come. DEMOCRATS STOP BEING BITCHES AND FIGHT. No democrat should vote for a SINGLE Trump cabinet pick. There are no rules anymore, it's time to adjust to that reality.

Joe Biden's move on pardons today is guaranteed to trigger some classic right-wing outrage. But here's the kicker: it might actually make them stop and think for a second. Why? Because it proves that a Democrat can also say, "Screw the rule book," and throw it straight out the damn window.

And her allegations against Roger Ailes? Was she also a member of the "woke mob" at some point?

Seth Abramson@sethabramson.bsky.social

I’ve no idea how low Megyn Kelly can sink in life but she just told an arena that the Rape and Sexual Assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh—four, all with named victims—were nothing more than the “woke mob” acting up I could have sworn “law-and-order” Republicans once thought Rape was a thing

The behavior of these tech giants toward Trump is something you'd need a VPN to watch in 17 states.

Seth Abramson@sethabramson.bsky.social

My God... this clearly confirms this as a grotesque political stunt. And this is supposed to make users trust Donald Trump more? When he's famous for being a liar, his co-president wants the app banned again, he's only issued a 90-day stay of execution, and he's demanding a buyer who can't be found?

Someone should put a Trump Net Worth clock next to the National Debt Clock. Both numbers are going to explode over the next four years.

I’m trying to come up with alt WaPo taglines. Both sides. For all of America. Together. One nation, every view. I mean, I have some sympathy. Taglines are hard to do *perfectly*. That’s why “just do it” was solid gold. But the idiotic WaPo tag cements what a disaster Will Lewis is.

In a functioning democracy, he's convicted in the Senate and is prevented from running again.

Seth Abramson@sethabramson.bsky.social

So just to be clear, in a functioning democray this would have been a 9-0 decision. I am glad Roberts and Coney Barrett decided to participate in our democracy this year, but Kavanaugh and Gorsuch are clearly lost in the permanent wilderness of moral rot that long ago swallowed up Thomas and Alito.

Anyone who needs to be reminded has a chasm between their ears.

Jen Rubin@jenrubin.bsky.social

The chasm between the seriousness of our challenges on one hand and, on the other, the unseriousness of House Republicans, the lack of qualified Trump advisers and the erratic behavior of our president-elect should remind us that elections have consequences. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Combining the words Democrat and ruthless is like trying to push two magnets together.

Jonathan V. Last@jvl.bsky.social

1) This is just truth. 2) Dems sure as shit better target the tech oligarchs in utterly ruthless ways if/when they regain power. Because we now see that if you propose modest regulatory reform these guys will try to kill you; but if you overtly threaten their businesses, they'll work with you.

The amount of time devoted to speculation on the state of the relationship between these two absurd characters is further proof we are living in ridiculous times.

Seth Abramson@sethabramson.bsky.social

The bromance has already faded. Trump realizes that Musk is weird as hell; that he is getting high on everyone (correctly) calling him President Musk; and that he intends to have much more power in the Trump administration than Trump. The blow-up between these two will be epic.

Subtle.

“The other thing is that the MAGA base is authoritarian-curious. They want a strongman. And the DOGE elites aspire to be strongmen themselves. They want a friendly autocracy that rigs the system in ways they prefer. So Laura Loomer and Steve Bannon might chafe at Elon Musk’s disdain; Cletus won’t.”
