#oc for the past few months i’ve been working on „syzygy“ - a sapphic dark fantasy comic full of weird prophecies, dreams and rituals. its about quasar, a knightess, who keeps seeing a woman in her dreams and becomes infatuated with her

when i come back to most of my pieces i tend to nitpick them a lot but there are quite a few that make me go ah well. i did make this. waow

tides i love you. vw and orufrey comics i love you. trigun illusts i love you. when i remember how much feeling and emotion it took to pour it all out and draw, it makes me happy that even after months i can still feel it all when i look at those pieces

im so sad i can’t afford going to art fairs and events while in china (and there are so many cool ones!!) travelling is super expensive AND i can’t apply for tabling at those events as well cuz it’s double the moneys..wanted to try my luck w GAF this year then saw that the booth itself is 2k cny 🚶‍♂️

i wish i wish i could print and sell my stuff but unfortunately my resources are very limited + i can’t do international sales and shipping due my visa restrictions..very sadge

i thibk i need to draw on paper more..i said the same thing a few months ago and i have finished 1.5 sketchbooks during this time..but i feel like doing full, bigger pieces or even trying comics with traditional mediums could also be super fun, though its still very challenging for me

i need to get used to not having an undo button or endlessly erasing and redrawing...its much much more convenient but drawing almost exclusively in digital made me very unaccustomed to traditional and now i need to relearn which is sad..i used to paint so much

i am Not updating my ipad in the nearest future it Will serve me for a few more years despite having 3-5 gb of free storage on an average day (threatening)

it works perfectly fine and the only issue is 64 gb of storage which is unfixable and i have to transfer all of my new procreate files to drive/phone as soon as im finished w them or the app crashes but i refuse to spend a bazillion of moneys on new tech unless mine is falling apart

me: i’m done with stsg im out of themes i want to explore through art of them bye me with yet another stsg wip a week later:

oomfs! who have used/use fountain pens and inks..im torn between a few choices here, please share your fav tools/brands! im eyeing lamy, sailor and jinhao..

idk how much my opinion in "does art school matter" discussion matters since my experience ends with attending local extracurricular courses for school students, but im very happy to have this experience still...i get so nostalgic when i think about those 5 years spent yapping with my friend

while pretending to paint, or when we were forced to go outside for plein air and we always went to get some snacks first..i didn't start drawing digitally until years later, but all the advice and critique i got during those courses still helped me a lot (and helps me to this day)

our teacher was such a sweet and kind woman :( i miss her dearly...she was the first person who encouraged me to apply for competitions and her mentorship was the biggest influence on my artistic growth im glad i got to experience art school without pressure and stress, it was very peaceful and fun

i laff every time i remember getting replies w compliments of my use of negative space and i was always like "whats that even" until i googled it months later and realized i've been using it almost in every comic without ever learning about this technique lol

made me think, what did they even teach us in fine arts courses during middle-high school. hmm we mostly did academic painting (vases, fruits, vintage silverware and bust sculptures still haunt me). we did have a composition class but it was more like a "free topic" drawing instead of fundamentals
