was playing a little of hell is us yesterday and idk but every one of these games is so formulaic. it’s like with woody allen movies - you see one and you’ve seen them all. i’ll probably give it a couple hours and see. at least there are no quest markers.

i hate how the entire "appeal" of ai is based around the premise that everything needs to be capitalized on. it's inherently a product of today's style of living where everyone has an attention span of a fly and the constant push to be as productive as you can because that's all that matters.

i'm so sick of it being everywhere and being the main topic of every conversation. i think the best thing i can do is to try to ignore it, but unfortunately it's not easy. go offline and bump into aigen flyers. move into the woods? chances are there might be no trees there soon. idk man. fuck it.

i feel also what also comes into play is the idea that everything in the world has to be tailored to be enjoyable and digestible by everybody and anybody. average everything out and leave absolutely zero room for any sort of creativity, individual thought and human expression.

ever wanted to make that one game? well now you can and it can be bigger and better that you even imagined. ever wanted to record an album? well save yourself time and money on the expensive instruments and gear, just hit the button. easy as that. just don't do anything, it's fine.

Given that the person who had their game "replicated" is also an AI slopper, is lying about that, and the "replica" was on Steam before their game was: I feel ok using this as a jumping off point for discussing why I don't think this is anywhere near as much of an issue as people are worried about

everything does. books, games, music etc. you can that for a price of a coffee at your local coffee shop, yet people will complain “it’s too much money the amount of cOnTeNt.” fuck off. people consume art like it’s fast food and it’s depressing.

people are like "making my dream game!" and then the game is what the fuck is this shit

The video advertising Unity's ew AI-driven autocomplete game maker has 'Mari' who has a game idea they "always wanted to make" and that idea is "Space Corridor" and it looks like this, and that's the strongest argument I can think of for keeping game dev out of the pro-AI crowd's hands.

buy it guys

Carter's Quest pretty apocalyptically failed to catch an audience, even with Act 1, and I really do have to wonder what more people could have asked for. It stands in opposition to basically everything people complain about in games, indie and otherwise. It's for so many more people than ever saw it

cool so now nobody should enter jams of post progress online, just work on something and quietly release and rely on word of mouth. it used to take at least some effort to rip something off in the past, now all it takes is being a talentless cunt with $10 budget for a genai subscription. fuck this.

My friend made a cool game on a game jam and within a month a slopclone of it is on Steam. This is happening every day for indie devs and I hate it.

years ago in krakow i stumbled upon a little record store called "high fidelity" and i have fond memories of spending an entire day talking to its owner piotr. i was sad to see that the store is permanently closed now, does anybody know what happened?
