Minor rant. At my previous job, I developed an online information manual, which my bosses liked so much they decided it should be run by its own department. They dedicated a manager to this, asked me to teach her how it all worked... and then hired a bunch of people from outside the company for it.

Move forward to the current job. They hired someone to build a document database. It did not work out. Our IT department was tasked with it- they were understaffed and made it a low priority. So I built a wiki- another demonstration. Corporate leadership saw it, the number two executive love it.

Greenlit the project. I got version one done, had a scheme to keep it up to date, etc. It _worked_. IT decided they didn't want to run it. I indicated that I would run it. They said they did not have space. I said it could run from a thumbdrive. They said they were building something better.

Which was funny. As in the job prior to that, and listed on my resume, was extensive work documenting and creating manuals for two software packages- as well as website work. As in I had documented experience doing exactly what i had just done for them.

So... they wear masks to prevent being identified and abused. Which is the reason protestors wear masks. But the protestors are criminals. Not the ice agents committing criminal acts. Not the law enforcement whose job it is to take risks in and with the public. Pfft.

The masked goons from the Department of Child Snatching are the *real* victims here, Mike Johnson says.

This comes up quite often. After someone- the public, the press- finds something nasty in a bill that congress just passed, a bunch of legislators say that they never saw it, or did not read that section. Just voted for it because leadership said to.

If you call for help with a computer or a computer program. two things. First, everyone you speak with will have gone through something similar. No one is judging you for running into trouble. Second, we can alllll see you. 24/7

At it's closest to Earth it takes about 4 minutes for a signal to reach Mars from Earth. A conversation would be something like... ME: I see Paris, I see France... 4 minutes pass while my signal gets there. 4 more pass until the respone reaches me. MARS: Shut up.

My favourite ever bar was owned and run by a recovering alcoholic. On rare occasions, he would have about a half shot of a new Scotch- so he could write it up for the liquor menu. Never touched anything else. Whiskey, wine, beer- nothing. When I asked about that level of discipline?

I like them. The standard issue Kents, comics and live action, are movie or TV "types". Tall, craggy. etc. These look my farm country neighbors.

In the excitement of this week’s announcements, it’s fitting to celebrate the anniversary of Ma & Pa Kent. I can’t wait for you to see Pruitt Taylor Vince & Neva Howell as the parents whose moral compass shapes our hero’s journey. #Superman is in theaters July 11. Photo by Jess Miglio.

In the trailer, when Lois suggests she interview Clark as Superman, I noticed how their attitudes changed, once they started. Clark straightens up in his chair and sort of expands his shoulders, Lois shifts into a more aggressive pose.

Some of the best Superman stories deal with this. Should something have been left to the police or fire? Should something have been left to politicians and generals- to the people ostensibly responsible?

THAT's it. Right there. That's Superman. Why act- because he CAN. Whether or not anyone else can. Because people are at at RISK. He doesn't see things in black and white, he understands nuance. But he's always going to act. At the earliest opportunity.

The best response to this is disarmament. Which we are too stupid to realize. Hey! If I use this thing to kill Bob, it kills everyone in Bob's house- do I want to do that? As a species? Sure.

#Biden For the sake of argument, let's agree- just for the moment- that President Biden's decline was worse than the public knew, during his last months in office. That, rather than being a generally healthy older man with the odd lapse?

Had President Biden not turned up for his debate ln apparent poor condition? And- again assuming this is all true- he'd likely be president now. With the public dealing with a too visible to conceal decline. If the government is not ready- neither is the public.

Well. What does his staff do? His family? Particularly if the president insists he or she is still able? There are things to be done, to remove a president, but there are no clear steps as to when you _have_ to start on that path.

And, if we are going to elect people this old to office- no matter how amazing they are- we _have_ to have process to deal with aging. President has less energy, more susceptible to illness, is less agile with names and faces- at what point is it time to go?

I do understand the concerns about violence, and about filth and about customers being drivien away. But I think that an actually civil society would find a way to house and employ these people- or get them the care they need.
