I see people putting AI in the same bucket as NFTs (speculative technology that will go away when the bubble pops), but I think the internet is the better comp. Sure there's some early bubble-y activity, but the underlying technology is real it's going to dramatically change things.
I keep expecting AI progress to plateau, but with the opus 5.5 release it seems clear that is not happening.

The GOP cut funding to the IRS because *audits work* and they fundamentally don't believe rich people should have to play by the rules.
One day I hope to convince conservatives that we should enforce the rule of law, reduce the deficit, and not carelessly tear down the institutions prior generations built, but today is not that day.
To be fair, it was sort of baffling for President Ford to name the theater after himself in the first place.
EXCLUSIVE @ms.now: Trump administration officials have discussed attaching the president’s name to Ford’s Theatre, the playhouse where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865 Officials are circulating a list of government sites that could carry the president’s name www.ms.now/news/trump-f...

Hmm I think this misunderstands how redistribution and investment in public infrastructure promotes economic growth and therefore increases the tax base
"Taxing the Rich Can’t Close the Federal Deficit" www.cato.org/blog/taxing-... via @CatoInstitute @adamnmichel "Confiscating all income earned over $1M would cover only about 80% of the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) projected $24.4T federal deficit over the [10Y] period."
Think about this though— what did the Neanderthal do? what if the Neanderthal had bad vibes?
We have evidence from Iraq of a Neanderthal (humanorigins.si.edu/evidence/hum...) with a stab wound from a spear or javelin from c. 40,000 years ago - putting our earliest evidence for human/near-human warfare WAAAAAAY before agriculture or complex societies.

This is true but they also often make you sign a very detailed and specific “statement of faith“ as soon as you get into leadership. A very odd esoteric structure that leaves people not realizing the church they attend is actually a very specific kind of Calvinist, for example.
