This is a name recognition poll, and it lands pretty much where I would expect. Nothing to do with 2028, however.

The Democratic presidential primary race appears to be wide open. (New York Times/Siena University poll) More, via Opinion Today: opiniontoday.substack.com/p/261025

Yeah, I'm voting for Democrats next week. But I want to be clear about what I want them to do. I want them to put these assholes in prison. All the way to the top.

Kavanaugh stops in action: ICE tackled a non-verbal kid near his school, left him with injuries requiring surgery, and then left the scene when they realized he wasn't the person they were looking for www.independent.com/2026/10/23/i...

This Spirit Halloween is in a space that used to be a very large fabric store. They’re not using the whole space, so over the back wall you can see that the ceiling and the lights extend much further back. Nice backrooms vibes.

I know we all made fun of George W Bush for being dumb (and he genuinely sucked) but I bet he was never given a cognitive test like this once in eight years, unless it was a formality attached to a normal physical.

Trump: "You know, the first question -- they have a lion, a snake, a giraffe, and a bear. And they say 'which is the snake?' ... by the time you get to number five a lot of people are left out on the road ... I get no credit for it."

Just the fact that Trump is constantly given these tests is a huge red flag. And he BRAGS about it. Compulsively.

I think shooting film has made me a better photographer with my phone, but I also have this feeling that iPhone photos don’t count.

after a tumblr user was told a painting in the illinois governor's mansion was a rothko from the pritzkers' own collection, i tried to imagine the pritzkers chopping a rothko to fit the newly handpainted dining room wall. greg.org/archive/2026...

Another incredible source of found photography. This bot that posts whatever people attached to the Google Maps profiles of various restaurants.

Huge follow-up reporting to my scoop: The Guardian confirmed America Next—the conservative nonprofit founded by Bobby Jindal that was offering students $ to disrupt El-Sayed events—paid a firm registered to Tommy Teepell’s dad Timmy $250k for “canvassing and influencer marketing” against El-Sayed.

Reviewing some 35mm scans. As usual most of them are terrible and I'm wondering if I'm wasting time and money. But then a few of them seem to have something going on. I'll share later.

Incredible that CNN fumbled this *so hard* and the WALL STREET JOURNAL is like, "Failed gotcha, Abdul is using it to his advantage." Yes, that's the one line summary of what happened. Obviously. For anyone with a brain.

I've been going through life thinking the opposite of whatever this guy says, so this is a little jarring.

Q: Will you disavow the Muslim Brotherhood? El-Sayed: Yes. Why are you asking the question? Do you assume that I wouldn’t? Q: Yes, because I have not heard you disavow them yet. El-Sayed: Have you disavowed them? I have not heard you disavow them yet.

I've really been enjoying photography lately. One thing I've noticed is that if you get a picture with a lot going on (objects, actions, characters, textures) it can be good as long as it holds together. A shot with a medium amount of stuff is usually bad. A shot with very little is usually good.

I think John Barron should be Press Secretary. He just has to do all of the press conferences over the phone. No reason.

I was brought in to help on a video editing project that was BADLY behind. There was a scene where we manually animated a bouncing ball over the words of a song, so the viewer could sing along. Then the main editor told me do redo it with a chili pepper instead of a ball...

...because the video has something to do with Mexico. The client didn't care about the pepper. No higher-up person wanted the pepper. It was just this one guy's an idea! On a project that was MONTHS behind schedule! Back in the era when rendering animations took forever!

I appreciate Zacharia for giving SNL some good material to work with, but they're going to have to fit all the jokes into one episode.

Incredible line.
