do you think employees at Bank of America grow tired of the jokes that occur when they refer to their company ("Bofa") by its short name? i.e. [guy talking at retirement party]: "it's been a pleasure all these years working with all of my colleagues at Bofa...(Bofa etc.!)"

it's true, about 98% of all words written in a corporate environment during the course of a job will never be read. instead of writing less words, we are intent on draining the oceans in order to have robots write and increasingly read these words

"With respect to the locus of invariant spatial-entity boundaries and persistent state dynamics, no transformative reconfigurations obtain; instead, the underlying contract schema manifests purely incremental, non-binding structural expansions—referent to the pre-established contextual matrix."

"The domain-level persistence paradigms and structural boundaries undergo zero parametric alteration; rather, the contract's configurational shifts exhibit exclusively strictly additive, non-obligatory feature accretions (as posited in the Agentic Manifest)."

if these were ordinary citizens (i.e. those that don't depreciate millions of dollars of equipment and land they inherited, and those that are "non-white") talking about how they can't afford rent on minimum wage from Walmart, Republicans would be calling them welfare queens

Tennessee farmer's fuel bill was $20,000 for just 2 weeks: "I wish they could see what it costs us to plant a crop and what we are getting paid... A farmer doesn't like a handout. He would rather have a fair market."

this is not a popular opinion, especially in the Willamette Valley where we hold farmers markets, CSAs, and half-cow shares in high regard...but most "farmers" (i.e. unsustainable small businesses) going belly up would be a net benefit for our current society and economy

Amazing that Republicans have now decided the President can initiate new tariffs whole cloth, declare war, reclassify & fire civil servants, dismantle federal agencies, reallocate Congressionally appropriated funds (military or otherwise), restructure federal agencies... ...but a blow job.

i wouldn’t be able to crawl out of this hole. sometimes a single crimson leaf spotted on a crisp autumn day triggers a nostalgia for a time that never really existed and i become so depressed

watching Iowa State/Arizona on ESPN and just saw an ad by approved by John Turek that went hard about Ashley Hinson voting against releasing the Epstein files. He went so far as to say plainly that she is…directly protecting pedophiles? oh fuck yeah

actually, fuck Turek bsky.app/profile/erin...

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

all he has to do is run the pedophile ad. makes you appear confident and you are going after your opponent’s record. instead he runs this which makes him appear on the ropes and running defense. and it is simply bad politics. what a fucking idiot.

people say Tucson Arizona is a stroad having car-centric amount of concrete and pavement, but the busses cover the entire city (and it's a big city in terms of area), most run every 20 minutes, AND IT IS FREE

nobody talks about how decent bud (maybe not to connoisseurs from Pac NW) is dirt cheap. Like $40/oz and lower. Sure it's trim and bottom shelf. But I grew up Mexican ditch weed in Arizona that would give you a headache, and it was $70-100/ounce in the eighties. Took you 2 hours to deseed and destem

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

and have you seen edibles? so many choices, with reliable doses. first time i ate a pot brownie during college i had no clue how much was in it. we were having a house party. 2 hours in i went to my bedroom and closed the closet and existed there for the rest of the night.

Matt is a turd but his “they killed multiple American citizens” hits so hard and for the opposite reason he is arguing for. this country needs retribution to reclaim its soul.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

this is what makes the other networks and their capitulation not only a failure of duty but embarrassingly feeble and weak

MS NOW@ms.now

BREAKING: A federal judge has ordered President Trump to sit for a deposition in his $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the BBC or risk the case getting dismissed, according to the AP.

watching the game locally here in Arizona (visiting mom) on the Suns network. they are saying that this game has been pretty evenly matched, if you take away the 30 point lead

seriously why do we even give Tom Dundon any oxygen? he’s a troll. just ignore him.

Kevin Klein@kevinkleinpdx.bsky.social

at some point we need to stop communicating with this dork. just like how car salesmen automatically assume the husband is the decision maker and starts working that angle. like he only put up like 1/6th of the capital to buy. at some point we say "that's cute, what does daddy & mommy say?"

seriously it isn’t much of stretch bsky.app/profile/bria...

A good hedge, then, would be to say now that these oligarchs are meddling in the election, and will have to answer for it in January, no matter the size of Democrats’ victory. www.offmessage.net/p/donald-tru...

with all the gnashing over the last decade over “Defund the Police” and it becoming an admonishment of record on the Nextdoor website (“we defundeded the police!” as if that was true)…with everything going on today, they were right.

Chenjerai Kumanyika @chenjerai.bsky.social

I went on NPR CodeSwitch to discuss what really happened w/“defund the police.” As a slogan it's not popular, but the idea that we can't raise questions, while police budgets, ICE & surveillance go wild is crazy. We get into the data. Worth listening to the end. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zk7b...

Youtube is awash with AI slop. Dead Internet Theory happened faster than i expected, sure, but i wasn't cynical enough to imagine how much big tech would be complicit in ushering in this inevitability

would you sabotage your own brand by turning on a spigot and allowing an endless flood of shit trash content to degrade your product, all in allegiance to the onward march of buzzword? why, yes i would.

it’s “fry”day on Sunday. every year we mound together 20 pounds of cia gio* filling and roll and fry over a hundred (*Vietnamese fried rolls filled with ground shrimp, pork, chicken, woodear & shitake, taro, carrots, jicama, mung bean noodle, onion, garlic, oyster sc, sesame oil, white pepper)

"Taunting" is such a stupid fucking penalty. however, i would be 100% behind it if they changed the name of the infraction to "Being Rude". "15 yards for Being Rude. Number 78."

of course Ossoff is elite in his oratory skills, but the message is this easy. Ossoff is going to gallop to victory in what was once a reliable conservative stronghold.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Ossoff: "If you're involved in any of this, next year you'll be raising your right hand and swearing to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help you God, in front of Congress!"

but Jon Gruber gets affirmation to gargle Apple there

John Scalzi@scalzi.com

I see we're having a debate about whether it's okay to go back to "X," the site owned by a trillionaire fascist who is currently bankrolling the GOP's midterm, throttled Ukraine's war effort, and still winkingly allows vast amounts of CSAM on his service Answer: No, what the fuck is wrong with you
