My favorite quote of all time: “One act of stubbornness in the face of the world” Do it because you want to. Not because there’s a market for it, it’s easy, or it makes sense to anyone but you.

#Google and #Apple are leaning into their strengths to fight off the AI startups. Google is treating the threat to search as existential. It's throwing every AI resource it has at winning what it believes is the next generation of search, and cramming Gemini into as many products as it possibly can.

Apple is reshuffling its entire exec team to focus more on hardware, to strengthen the iPhone and its linked hardware portfolio. Meanwhile #Microsoft is out there apologizing, trying to save whatever trust in Windows and #Xbox is left. And #Meta? Honestly no idea what they're doing right now.

What’s your best #book or course for #typography guidelines? Something that actually goes deep into how to define a type scale, how to use the 8px/4px grid to build out typography systems, that kind of thing. Not another beginner resource that spends half the time explaining serif vs. sans serif.

There is an entire subreddit of people requesting things like: “I have no good photo with this deceased person, can someone make me one?” or “This person couldn’t attend my wedding and I need a photo with them” People have been doing this for years. Now Samsung is bringing it to everyone. (2/3)

The only real solution moving forward is to hard-tag every manipulated photo (AI or not) and explicitly show that tag. All social media companies should be forced by law to display these tags. (3/3)

🎉 Looking for new work. 15 years front-end dev + Design Systems specialist. I help folks build, maintain & transform design systems. I'm also available for focused projects, front-end builds, codebase modernisation. Short to long term. Let's chat - stu@alwaystwisted.com reposts appreciated <3

Microsoft rebranding Office Hub to yet another Copilot app and Google defaulting users to the fast Gemini model over Pro (even if you choose Pro from the dropdown new windows default to fast) are the latest signs that consumer AI isn’t delivering. The hype phase is over. Investors want real returns.

AI coding agents are like very fast interns who never learn from mistakes. If you can spot a bad pattern in 10 seconds, the agent is 10x leverage. If you can't, you're shipping bugs at scale. The verification bottleneck is real—reading AI code often takes as long as writing it yourself

AI coding agents are multipliers, not replacements. Experts get 10x output, juniors get messy codebases they can't maintain. The skill gap doesn't shrink — it gets expressed differently.

My issue with AI coding agents is that they are highly skill-dependent. Someone like @dimillian.app, with his deep knowledge of SwiftUI and best practices, can guide the model to produce great results. But without that expertise, you can’t reproduce his work. The quality still comes from the human 🧵

Saying “AI will write 90% of the code” scares juniors away from the field. Seniors won’t code forever. And AI still can’t write high-quality software without expert human direction.

Listening to the latest Vergecast epsiode by @davidpierce.xyz. it hit me that the personal assistant workflows people are hacking together with Openclaw are exactly the Apple intelligence pitch. If Apple/Google get the UX right, this will be the killer feature no other AI compnay can compete with.

I don’t know whether it’s a sign of getting old or just bad eyesight, but I can’t read long-form content on dark mode websites anymore. If your blog is dark mode only with no option for light mode, it’s an instant no-read for me.

@danabra.mov I'm building a photo-sharing social network for family and friends. It's mainly a project for me and my family rather than something I expect to grow big. However, in the unlikely event it does take off, I want to be fair to users who join and allow them to take their data anywhere.

Is it possible to use ATProtocol while restricting users within my network from following users on external networks, while still allowing users from external networks to follow users on mine?

@danabra.mov I'm building a photo-sharing social network for family and friends. It's mainly a project for me and my family rather than something I expect to grow big. However, in the unlikely event it does take off, I want to be fair to users who join and allow them to take their data anywhere.

That's why I'm building it on the ATProtocol with my own PDS and custom lexicons. I have some intentional constraints: users can only make one post per day (a single photo or carousel of 5 photos), no links allowed anywhere (in posts, profiles, or comments), captions are limited to 140 characters

The purpose of these restrictions? If this app somehow grows, I want it to remain a family and friends first space rather than another platform for influencers to grow their following number. I've looked through the AT Protocol documentation and have a question:

You are up to date.
