You hold back tears at the gym because you're exhausted by the Sisyphean task of staying in shape. I hold back tears at the gym because a sappy song came on shuffle, and now I'm imagining two characters from my unannounced videogame kissing. We're not the same.

Congrats on the release to the talented team behind Burn With Me! I got to draw some alternative card illustrations for the game, so go ahead and try to unlock them… if you DARE!

Burn With Me is out now!! store.steampowered.com/app/2954010/... I can say a lot about our eerie narrative deckbuilder, but this release trailer speaks louder than words.

The feedback form for the initiative is open. Somewhat surprisingly, there's actually even an option to leave your comment as a non-citizen. Please don't let this become law without a fight! 🙏 ec.europa.eu/info/law/bet...

So this is bad. I don't think EU indies can even continue to exist if this passes. Even non-EU devs would essentially have to lose a chunk of their audience to these regulations. Be aware of this if you're a EU citizen, there might still be time to at least steer it into something less cataclysmic.

I am once again sorry for the art drought. Very preoccupied by the very concept of me having a job and providing for my family being written out of existence by tech bros, influencers and politicians. A lot of staring blankly at the screen in my busy schedule these days.

We just can't catch a break, can we? The EU Kids Act is nightmare fuel, if you look beneath the honorable surface claim of "protecting kids online". The breakdown: www.youtube.com/watc... #StopKillingGames #StopKillingTheInternet

i have unfortunately been affected by this, and will be leaving the studio at the end of this month. i will miss it dearly and am really hoping to make it back. ko_op is/was likely my last ride in games, but i am open to the right opportunity. deets on my experience in thread.

An important update from KO_OP.

So with the news of the layoffs at KO_OP, I'm officially looking for work later this fall. I'm an experienced narrative designer that's worked on both sprawling open world stories and intimate cinematic narratives, even netting some award wins and noms. More details on my experience below!

Tried turning some of my drawings into tiny vertical videos to see how well they perform organically on Instagram. I like how much juice you can squeeze from more or less a single PNG with some minor flashy edits. I think the emergent vibe so far is «ad bumpers you swear you saw on tv at 4 AM».

Why do they continue to push this mass surveillance theme into MCU Spider-Man? That's such a weird ass detail to add. There's a scene in the newest one where he gets a verbal slap on the wrist for spying on all of NY with assistance of AI. Is this one of them psyops I keep hearing so much about?

We still have around 10 creatures left to be redrawn! If you are an artist (furry or not), and would be interested to contribute your art to Burn With Me (store.steampowered.com/app/2954010/...), please DM me! The more cool artists participate, the happier I am :) Here are some of the examples!

Nozomu@nozomugames.com

Big reveal: we're having a huge collab for Burn With Me! 🔥 30+ artists are drawing alternative sprites for all 100 cards (that you can unlock in-game)! Words can't convey how happy I am: talking to people, collaborating with other artists and our friends. People are awesome! I'm hyped :)

Sorry there hasn't been much in terms of art recently. I'm pretty consistent about picking up a stylus these days, but most of it is either for bigger unannounced things or just me scribbling absent-minded doodles for fun.

An update on this thing: after making a couple more environments this way I realized that I don't really enjoy the slow, overengineered pipeline I've built. And also I ended up adding the lights engine-side anyway for better character shading, so what is even the huge win anymore? 🤷

Even more art tests. This one is for the point-and-click game idea I keep meaning to flesh out a bit. Played around with baked lighting this time. These are 3D, in-engine and almost entirely procedurally textured. Didn't have to lay down a single brushstroke. Kind of excited about this workflow.

We're entering a future where there's not enough drinking water and half the population is in a state of psychosis, but you can vibe code your own shitty Photoshop for fifty bucks. Even ignoring the ethics, in what world was doubling down on anti-consumer practices and genAI a smart business move?

«One where the individuals making up the C-suite will continue to fail upwards in the industry no matter the consequences and rationality of their past decisions». Oh hush you, I was trying to make a point.

How easy it is to get into Quake modding these days? Would it be faster to just build something similar enough in a modern engine? Once in a blue moon I'm possessed by an idea of shooting some custom-made guys with a custom-made shotgun.

That's a good stopping point, I think. Maybe just a couple more rooms and it'll be about the size/complexity I imagined for an average level. It's really fun to build stuff once you already have all the necessary lego pieces in the content browser, I should do this more often.

It appears that the pet project for this vacation is a new area for my slowly-made first-person exploration game. Which I should title. This level's inspired by exposed ground floors of apartment buildings I see around the city. There's just something so eerie about them to me, especially at night.

It's shaping up nicely. The signs really tied it together. I don't want to use English or anything too common for signage, so I'm utilizing constructed languages instead. At least ones with an online translator. For the underpass it was Interslavic, but I thought Esperanto would fit here more.

Sorry for disappearing from the face of the internet for a bit. I've been making some good progress on developing my Big Unannounced Game, which unfortunately meant I had to pause working on art I can actually share. And also I didn't really like any of my recent WIPs haha.

I turned three cans of Monster and a sleepless weekend into a tiny videogame for the Global Game Jam. It's about escaping a room full of procedurally generated masked weirdos, something I'm sure we all can relate too. Play it now on your Windows personal computer: khorrorshow.itch.io/i-dont-know-...

Test character for a thing. I've never been able to crack the code on crunchy pixelated textures, they never look quite like I want them to. Even with the amazing Pixel8r tool that basically does all the work for me. PSX devs make it look so easy!
