Looks similar in magnitude to MLS when they trialed the rules (and MLSNP)
New rule changes in soccer are speeding up play, but one of them may be working too well - WOW it is quite eye opening to see the effect of the 1-minute off rule in action. I didn't expect it would be this drastic www.expectinggoals.com/p/new-rules-...
10/30 teams couldn’t be arsed to submit a 22U22 ballot? Fine them GAM. Losers.
MLSsoccer.com's 2026 22 Under 22 is live. The site has evolved drastically over the past 16 years, yet thankfully this series perseveres, and with good reason. It tells one of MLS's best stories, and traces back to the league's very reason for being: www.mlssoccer.com/news/2026-22...
Career MLS and NWSL is just a who's who of ballers.
Goofing around with a metric on players who are good at receiving the ball and able to turn and play forward (and passers who enable it). Here's my first simple pass, just forward pass (>5m and < 45 degrees from center) + forward action. There's too many wide players so I gotta play with it.
At the request of @mattdoyle.bsky.social, turn data for MLSNP. I'll flag that 2nd on turn rate is 14 year old (now 15) Lucas Dawson of TFC2. Pretty damn nice.
Please yell at me things you think this should include

ACL-MCL/achilles injuries are way up in all sports. Current leading hypothesis is that as athletes have become more specialized, earlier (multi sport athletes are exceedingly rare past 13-14 now) and youth sport becomes increasingly professionalized (more formal games) their bodies are less durable.
A lot of it is that the game is so demanding on the lower body with the amount of stop & start sprints players are doing, but idk, maybe there's something to do with the shoes too at this point
