Sooooooo, Wildwood was the story teenaged me DREAMED of seeing on screen (After I learned that The Chronicles of Narnia was a non subtle Christian allegory.) Also, it's brutal in it's depiction of war. Live action is often far more subtle. It's a movie for adults and it happens to star children.

I forgot her poop sample in my fridge. Gotta go home and bring her poop sample back to the vet. Laufey's guts have been a mess since we switched her off raw. Usually I have it under control, but the last week her poops became too powerful and she needed a vet trip.

Every costume I've seen Kory make is AMAZING. It encouraged me to leave the house in my (purchased, not made by me) fully yarn knitted Dwarven beard and helmet. It's honestly my favorite costume. The entire joke is "I'm a dwarf lady."

Hung out with @kikidoodle.bsky.social and @breewolfstuff.bsky.social and @gummyskeleton.bsky.social and @sporkbot.bsky.social (who is photobombing that first photo) and it was FUN. Some people thought the TV was a real CRT! Here’s a video I took yesterday of the whole head.

One of the most interesting myths about fanart being what sells is the rare time I bring fanart to a con, it barely sells UNLESS it's directly related to other art I'm already selling. So you want to sell more original work? Bring less fanart. Here's my GOOD slow selling fanart. #artpost

Anyway, do fanart because it's fun for you! If you're making fanart specifically to draw people into your booth to see your NON fanart pieces, you may be bringing in the wrong customers for your long term goals! Of COURSE someone looking for Maleficent isn't necessarily looking for my cat art 😹

Fun fact. I printed 10 of this Maleficent this year. Ten. High quality, fine art pieces, gorgeous color. 9x12 standard size. I put them in a prime spot on my booth. I've sold... 9 😹 In the same period I've sold 293 "uncategorized pet prints" aka, it's just a cat! Makes me chuckle.

The reason fanart sells is that it doesn't take any investment on your end to make someone want it. They already know the character and don't have to form a relationship with your art. So selling fanart can be *easier* but it also rarely translates into a client who comes to collect YOUR art.

You know what happens when I start bringing more than 1-2 pieces of hidden fanart to a con? Folks walk up to my booth and ask me what other fanart I have, or if I have art of a show they like. Then they usually walk away when I don't. It's not a great feeling. So I bring very little!

I like to scroll through shopping ads, even if I rarely buy things, and it's ROUGH right now. Even previously trusted makers are generating "prototypes"with AI and running pre-sales (Tentakitty is one). I see SO many impossible things.

I have a distinct memory from childhood where my mom told me about false asvertising laws, and I remember finding it kinda neat. But honestly, unless the mega coorporations HOSTING false sellers (etsy, ebay, amazon, etc) become liable, it's only going to get worse.

All of my guests: "Kiki! Your cat is drinking your water!" Me: "no no, that's HIS water glass." Jiji will excitedly wait on the table when I refill his glass. They have a special coaster and everything. #cats

Still got cat PTSD 😎 Laufey had a low fever yesterday, and sounded weak. She has had some bad diarrhea for a couple days. I gave her some probiotic paste that helps firm stools. She's doing fine. Active, alert, low fever gone. But my brain keeps whispering "you also thought Gandalf was okay."😮‍💨

Logically, Laufey should be find. She had a much better bowel movement this morning, plus I gave her blankets for a blanket fort, and unplugged the heated bed so she can't cook herself. She devoured her morning probiotic and is acting normal. Just doing my best to trust myself.

Gandalf hit me hard. She got feverish over the weekend, and started rejecting food. With boiled chicken her fever went down and she was eating, again. My mom called about her and I said "I'm not worried. She's eating and fever is going down!" Reminding myself, bird flu was an abnormality.

A lot of my cat skills are "gut" based. Losing faith in my sense of gut, PLUS it going into overdrive unnecessarily, has made it difficult to know how to react to situations. Just doing my best to balance logic and trust my health checklist process when deciding what to do for them.

On this note: Last night I told V that we were going to do a "roleplay exercise" where he is the wife who remembers what all the tasks are and does them, and I'm the doofy husband who only does tasks when asked to. His one power is he can ask me to do anything, but it's his responsibility to ask 😹

Why am I surprised that I feel like garbage after driving 24+ hours over a two day span. 😵‍💫

It was nice to channel my parent's relationship this morning. 😹 V prepped cat food (important daily task) while I did edge vacuuming and now I'm off to flatten boxes (large, irrelevant tasks).

I'm probably not the only millennial who had parents where your mom would say something like "I really want clean bathrooms, and the kids need help with homework." And dad would go "remodel the entire downstairs? Do a 5 star project over the next 2 weeks? Got it."

Normally we have tasks we both do independently, and ask for help any time we need the body double. But when I'm exhausted, I get bad executive dysfunction. I was trying to think of a good way to ask "Can you START every task, and I'll just help?" And realized what I was describing 😹

Safely dropped off Bebop with GroveRex. She's in good hands for the next couple months (hopefully less!) #cats

Bebop requested a scenic stop so she could take a stinky poop on our road trip. She's too goblin to take a scenic cute photo. Moments later she tried to bite my glasses. #cats

WIP leopard! It's finished and scanned, but posting this since it'll be away from the computer for a couple more days💕 Someone called me non-problematic Lisa Frank and, lmao, I'll take it😹 #artpost

Shipping sucks so much right now. I'm contemplating designing a special sticker that I ONLY send with online orders... free as a gift. Like a "You put up with our broken system and $7+ shipping, but at least you get a special cat sticker available no where else!"

Gonna drive this baby 700 miles tomorrow to meet a different boy. (Then I have to drive 700 miles back UGH) Still hopeful we can have a litter in the new year! Bebop is such a cuddle bug in the winter and I'm gonna miss her 😭 #cats

Kinda still chuckling to myself at the human who approached me 10 minutes before closing on the final day of con with one of my $30 limited edition pins. "Its the end of day, would you accept $20?" "I'll sell it for.... $30." He went "... fair." And paid. 😹

I pair every litter box with everything I need to make it ADHD friendly. A mini trash can and scoop for daily scooping. Replacement bags. No dragging poo bags through the house. A hard plastic shoe tray for overflow litter. Easy to wash. Spare litter. A dehumidifier reduces smell. #cats
