Was looking forward to some mental stimulation this morning, but every seat was taken. Congrats on the full house!
Good morning! Today at 11am, I’ll be sharing the stories, science and creative process behind my latest work exploring deep sleep, dreams, memory and insomnia at Waterstone Gallery #Portland #sciart I should be getting ready. Hope to see some of you there!
A wonderful audience for Science on Tap talking about the art & science of sleep, dreams, memory and insomnia! Full house and fantastic questions! Thank you to the amazing folks at Science on Tap and the delightful Master of Ceremonies Dr. Jess Herbert @jesshebert.bsky.social 🐡 #scicomm

I'm not sure how this is even possible, but we still have tickets left for Wednesday's Science on Tap featuring @kindracrick.com and her new artworks exploring the neuroscience of sleep and dreams. Come spend 90 minutes in learning wonder. www.scienceontaporwa.org/events/kiggi...
@moduality.bsky.social came by on Saturday with a 1979 Scientific American magazine! 🧠 The whole magazine focused on the brain with an article written by my grandad. - Thank you! 🙏

One of today’s Nobel Prize winners, Karl Deisseroth, said he was inspired by Francis Crick’s original call for precision targeting of neurons in a Scientific American called "Thinking about the Brain" and kept a copy of the original 1979 issue on his desk. 🧪 stanfordmag.org/contents/new...

In 2016, I used blue light for my 'Cerebral Wilderness' neuron art installation as nod to optogenetics! ✨ Why blue light? The foundational experiments by @deisseroth.bsky.social that launched the Nobel Prize winning technology of optogenetics in 2005 used blue light at ~ 470 nm #sciart 🧪

The 🧠 toss is a nod to NWNoggin @nwnoggin.bsky.social, the group that got me tossing brains for neuroscience outreach. We bring real brains into classrooms … we only toss the 3D models though. Been so deep in the studio prepping for next week’s show that I haven’t had much time outside it lately.
