to know where you are going, you have to know where you have been: pldb.kirancodes.me Titles and abstracts of 22,324 programming languages papers, from the first POPL in 1973 to this year's proceedings.

PL researchers often have a tenuous grasp of what an acronym means. What are the worst acronyms in PL's history? We searched the archives, and here are the most belaboured acronyms to grace any paper's page in our 50 year-long history.

ran out of claude tokens rip I guess I'm going naked today

> thinks I use chatgpt for anything with taste young padawan you have much to learn

i will only tolerate human slop in my codebase. All my bugs are human made with good old fashioned human incompetence, just like my grandmother and her grandmother before her

PL researchers often talk about languages *morally* doing things, but what are they talking about? A: "Fast and loose is morally correct" (2006), but around 2016 people stopped citing it (or putting "moral" in quotes!)

claude might have just one shot my hair routine

fuck it, we ball (A/B testing my hair routine with Claude)

one of the things I've had midly running in the backburner is to read through the slop drop for potential applications to my research area, got round to that today, got a few bangers

Just FYI: Firefox is just one big piece of code. You can totally just go and fork and fuck with it to add whatever features you want. I love this era of infinitely personalisable personal software.

There's a sense of beauty and isolation in how personalised LLM workflows are. My setup are truly gamechanging for me. I have a custom terminal multiplexer, a custom firefox fork, a custom todo-list app, a custom emacs fork. All of them synergise. ...but completely impossible to share with others.

Ed@ed3d.net

I at this point am like 90% convinced that reusable/shareable skills packages are a bad thing for LLM users. The 10% is that it can show you what's possible; the 90% is that people want to be incurious and just slap something in the only person who can effectively guide your tasks is you

I swear the trans women in PL are such heavy hitters damn Always feel pressure to excel to not let down the team And they all do it so easily while for me its an endless struggle One must imagine Kiran happy

Brb gonna recreate the milgram experiment with claude

kiran this ad looks like it's for a chastity cage marketed to tech bros who want it so they can stay obsessed with The Grind instead of for kinky sex reasons

I was an idiot for expecting that I was the first tgirl to think of this lol like... of course there are bay-area girlies who's entire PhD research is on ML models for voice gendering lmaooo and they even have the trans voice lessons lady as a coauthor

idle thought I had at my voice therapy session today: what if I trained a network over female voices for live vocal weight/pitch/resonance feedback?

isn't it fucking insane, that Micro$oft, fucking Micro$oft of all companies is pro-remix culture now? total Free Culture victory babyyyyy

it's super cool building little tools that reify little logistic tricks and conventions that I would have done by hand~ (here a tool integrated into my todo list where I can select the set of tasks I want to do today and then place them around a timeline to help plan out my day)

> I just learned that there are people who think copyright is an unequivocal evil and artists should give all their labour away for free
