Brilliantly hilarious.

I built a fun little Chrome extension that lets plants invade your abandoned tabs the longer you leave them unread. To access them again, you have to slash through the vines 🪚🌿

This is so much better than my old smelly hat. And while the stats are significantly better with the longbow, the pint of ale remains my favorite weapon to date. I wielded that thing like a pro. @middleearth.quest

I thought I saw someone building a white label PDS hosting service for #atproto apps that didn't want the hassle of building/managing their own. Was I imagining that? Can't seem to find it.

This morning I'm revisiting my #wip novel for the first time in about five years. My notes are more thorough than I remember. I still love the idea. And I'm far more excited about it than I was yesterday. That's delightful progress. #amwriting

@svenbeckert.bsky.social Took me a while, but I finished Capitalism: A Global History this morning. What an achievement! (The writing, not the reading.) I learned an enormous amount and have so much to consider. Thank you for delivering such an important book to the world.

Is it weird that the minute Google is forced by courts to allow other app stores in the Play Store, Amazon abandons their own app store and releases tablets with Google Play access? Google must have paid them a fortune, right? Is there another explanation?

After more than a year of working out of my dining room, I now once again have a home office. And a whiteboard. And I already feel more productive. I'll probably celebrate this new productivity by scrolling Bluesky and watching YouTube videos.

The crossroads are no longer forgotten. They shall live on in the triumphant performance of "Mordor on Broadway," wherein we orcs belt jovial accounts of our victories to the music of various Gondorian and Rohirrim showtunes.

By a forgotten crossroads, 🗡️ the black-armored ranks of Mordor have overcome ⚔️ the horse-lords of the Riddermark. Mordor prevails.

I'm afraid @attie.ai needs to improve their onboarding. This is where I landed after signing up. Reminds me of the scene in My Cousin Vinnie where the menu says, "Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner."

Text message political fundraising spam is so broken. I've texted STOP or END to well over 250 phone numbers, but the onslaught never ceases. Same candidates, same messages, different phone numbers. It needs to end.

I don't mind the Bears losing to Green Bay, but I'm not a fan of them getting embarrassed. Bagent was obviously off today. Should've made the QB switch in the second quarter.

I'm an Illinois fan. But Michigan State recovered that onside kick, and they were NOT offsides. That just shouldn't happen.

Claude Code's ability to spit out database diagrams in Obsidian Canvas format might be my favorite feature. I need to visually inspect a database diagram to fully understand and optimize it. I remember, back in the day, printing ten 8.5x11 sheets of paper and taping them together. This is better.

Set up my first repository on @tangled.org . The onboarding was confusing because I didn't understand knots or the need to register one on my profile. Maybe walk users through a knot workflow before letting them create a first repository? Or maybe I'm an anomaly. Wouldn't be the first time. 🤓

The lease on my Tesla finally ended. When the sales people and dealership asked how I felt about the car, I said, "It's been my favorite car ever. Full stop." They asked why I wasn't getting another. I summed it up, on multiple occasions, with various iterations of, "Elon Musk." And here we are.

I remember when the NFL required definitive proof to overturn a call. I didn't see it on that second Bears TD call. Bad call refs. #chicagobears

25 years ago this morning, the doctor put his arm around me and said, "You're gonna become a father today." It sounded weighty and momentous, and I thought I understood. But I had no idea. And I still can't put it into words. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. The years go fast, people.

Speed AND beauty. You don't deserve us, people of Middle Earth.

the Middle-earth Labeler@middleearth.quest

Sauron's captains gather under one dark purpose and all his captains answer the same call. Coordination breeds speed. The Dark Lord's captains muster in strength. 💨 +3 Speed to Sauron's forces

This is remarkable and fascinating.

Okay so I've built a new Atlas, this time it lets you explore the conversations on Bluesky over the past 7 days graphically. It should update every ~6 hours and help you navigate the information environment that exists on here. I've learned a LOT about what people do here today... atlas.jazco.dev

Serious question. Why do domain prices increase? Does the cost of administering a domain increase for a registrar? Is it purely profit motivated? Security costs? It all FEELS random, but maybe it's regulated?

@middleearth.quest I haven't received a "You found something" DM in two weeks, even though I still receive the battle DMs. Is that normal? Just curious. (Lies. I'm not just curious. I'm a greedy Uruk who wants better gear.) Thanks!

Listen, Google. Take all the nifty phone/app streaming tech in the new Googlebooks and add it to Android XR. The single best use case for streaming a phone interface is in VR. Passthrough isn't bad, but it's not the same. Let me flick my finger and look at my phone screen. That would be awesome.

The new Meta VR glasses look solid, but I just can't buy more Meta products. I love my Quest 3, and Meta has done as much as anyone to further VR/AR tech, but I don't want to support that company anymore. Maybe they'll change one day... Probably not.

Clean energy is the cheapest and fastest way to meet rising electricity demand, but the Trump admin is choosing to prop up expensive, polluting fossil fuels instead. Earthjustice is fighting to keep us on a path toward a cleaner, more affordable energy future.

I think if Google had manufactured their own premium Googlebook, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. But I've had too many Dell, HP, Lenovo clunkers over the years to trust them or want their branding on my laptop. Maybe we can get a Framework Googlebook!

NEW BRIGHT SPOTS: Industrial heat without burning fossil fuels? Use cheap renewable electricity to heat cheap materials. Store the heat. Use when needed. It’s already happening: 50+ thermal battery projects have been built worldwide. More here: janrosenow.substack.com/p/thermal-ba...

janrosenow.substack.comThermal batteries aren’t coming. They’re already here.Half of all operating thermal batteries came online since 2025. Policy, not technology, is now the main constraint.

If you had to host PDS, Relay, labeler, CDN, client, and an AppView just to run an Atmosphere application, I would never recommend AT Protocol and tell you to find a better stack. But like the Atmosphere solves the cold start problem for having users, it does the same for devs.

With a pint of ale and a smelly blanket, I don't think I've contributed much to these victories, but I am no less willing to partake in the celebration. Now I've got some arrows, har har har. Stand back.

🗡️ the black-armored ranks of Mordor have beaten back ⚔️ the horse-lords of the Riddermark by a copse of ancient trees. Mordor seizes victory!
