My latest. Some good people working on this.

Inexpensive renewables a problem? ERCOT: “We see the need for more baseload generation... but mostly because of how inexpensive renewables are, prices are not supporting capital flowing to those resources.” 🔌💡 www.rtoinsider.com/146863-texas...

ACP The grid is not a collection of standalone assets; Pairing thermal generation and renewables with energy storage creates a portfolio that is cleaner, faster to deploy and more resilient than gas alone. 🔌💡 @yes-energy.bsky.social www.rtoinsider.com/141186-new-b...

Fascinating conundrum. How do you socialize the costs? Making utilities pay just raises the rates. Same with insurance. Pre-emptive fire mitigation of utility lines also causes rates to rise quickly. California is trying to figure it out. Maybe harden homes or not build in danger zones?🔌💡

Justin Gerdes@justingerdes.bsky.social

"California’s strict liability regime creates powerful incentives to prevent utility ignitions and drives up retail electricity rates. It does much less to encourage home hardening, fuel treatments, defensible space, or safer development." energyathaas.wordpress.com/2026/08/24/w... by M. Fowlie 🔌💡

Quite the abrupt change of direction for Texas. The backlash against data centers seems to concern all sides of the political spectrum at this moment. 🔌💡

Everyone expected winter weather to send PJM prices soaring. 📈Instead, parts of Chicagoland saw LMPs plunge into negative territory recently, with one notable example ~6 a.m. Tues. This underscores how unpredictable market volatility can be. Track real-time prices www.yesenergy.com/solutions 🔌💡

There's a new solar record in ERCOT. A few minutes ago, solar exceeded 25,000 megawatts of production for the first time, equaling 52% of demand. Emission free sources (wind, solar, and nuclear) are producing about 75% of power demand today.
