Wondering if Leaflet would be a better fit for this format. A decent amount of knowledges fit within one tweet but notably not all of them. It'd be on the shorter side compared to most Leaflet publications but I'm kinda thinking I could make this little microblog better if I switched. Thoughts?

I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA 10 YEAR OLD ME IS LOSING HER MIND (a thread 🧵)

september 5th, 2025: Butter can't be churned from milk. When milk fresh from a cow is allowed to rest for long enough, a layer heavy in milkfat will rise to the top. This layer is skimmed off and sold as heavy cream, which in the United States, must be 36% milkfat to be marketed as such. (1/2)

august 30th, 2025: An 1884 U.S. patent for what could today be described as peanut butter was filed by a man named Marcellus Gilmore Edson. It details how roasting the peanuts is what gives the resulting product its characteristic gooey texture, rather than becoming peanut flour, once ground. (1/2)

And while the words "peanut butter" are not used, the patent says that once cooled, the product will "set into a consistency like that of butter, lard, or ointment." (2/2) WE COULD HAVE HAD PEANUT OINTMENT

august 23rd, 2025: The earliest known instance of the term "windshield" being used comes from a patent filed in 1904, which showed the device being used on a baby carriage to protect children from the elements.
