I spent the weekend getting a signed photo with the 95 year old William Shatner. Last month was the 60th anniversary of Star Trek. The passing of time since TOS is very much on my mind lately. Doesn’t make this any easier. RIP Walter Koenig.

George Takei@georgetakei.bsky.social

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Three storms in five days, but sure climate change is normal Earth stuff. We haven’t screwed up the planet. The real climate change deniers are the greens who think we still have time to do anything about it. It’s done (some DO admit it TBF). Those we currently call deniers just need called idiots.

That goes for plenty other things too. It’s time to stop pussy footing around idiots due to their right of free speech and right to an opinion. They have those. Doesn’t mean any of it is valid. Call out idiots. Call them idiots. Don’t platform their nonsense as equal and valid. Shame them.

Gen X: 1965-1980. 16 years. Milennials: 1981-1996. 16 years. Gen Z: 1997-2012. 16 years. Gen Alpha: 2013-present. So a generation is 16 years. So even the unionists made up claim of "once in a generation" means indyref2 by 2030. I still suggest that's not soon enough given the Reform threat.

I’m of an age where beating Celta Vigo was a huge achievement as it meant Europe after Christmas for the first time I could remember. Now I’m watching us play Celta Vigo in an era where you get post-Christmas Europe just by making the group, wishing it was over faster as this is rotten.

Well I hope everyone is eating their words at full time about the goalkeeper change. Me included. If he’s going to rotate I’d rather he play Doohan. He’s ours, not a loan deal who already looked very dodgy.

The news today is another embarrassment. Jackdaw approved, let’s screw the planet some more by Westminster shaking the Scottish money tree! Will it cut our bills? No. Meanwhile, look at the money Charlie spunked on the Sultan of Oman! Oh by the way, there’s another storm coming. Yep, screwed planet.

This is a terrific point. Celtic aren't even competing with small teams from small leagues who are punching about their weight, let alone the big teams from small countries who do what we should by maximising their potential. In 25 years we've occasionally got close, before regressing every time.

Paul McGowan@maddog20201888.bsky.social

As Celtic fans we've even lowered our benchmarking ..we talk about being more like Brugge, Bodo, LASK, Midjitland, etc when we're closer in size to Benfica, Ajax, Sporting, AEK etc..this board have got us believing with managed decline that we're nowhere near these clubs.. we should be & could be!!

But idiots like Desmond and his son will tell you we can't compete with the big clubs from the big countries (which is true) so why even bother. Small black and white thinking. An attitude that stinks out the club and permeates throughout its structure. Because of one man.

D'You Know What I Mean by Oasis. A pre-cursor to buying Be Here Now when it came out to long after. Angel Child was a terrific B-Side demo, and I still get pelters for my high opinion of their version of David Bowie's Heroes! (I reckon I was quite late to buying music on my own btw)

Mark Thompson@markreckons.bsky.social

First single you bought with your own money. No lying! Mine: "Red Box - Lean on Me (Ah-Li-Ayo)", 1985. Still know every word.

I missed most of what Douglas Alexander was saying on BBC this morning. Did they ask him about the SNP voting to note that he and his office are an anachronistic irrelevance? Seems fitting since his boss wants to devolve away from Holyrood. I suggest they devolve away from Westminster first.

I only heard him trying to suggest that they're allowed to talk about reversing Brexit (changing your mind about 2016) but not about independence (changing your mind about 2014). He talked about close trade. Someone show him Iberia. He's too busy being anti-democratic (opposed to even asking)

As I hinted, I actually agree with Andy Burnham that power should be devolved away from Holyrood to be more local around Scotland. But in the context of a Westminster government who hold so many cards themselves away from Holyrood and refuse to devolve it, it's sabre rattling nonsense.

I think the thing I'm mostly annoyed about is that given Duran Duran were playing the the Hydro last night, I didn't stick money on both Durans to score last night in Lisbon. That was a tap in.

After weeks of “what’s this team about” followed by “what’s these subs about” across club and country, last night with SWNT was a very welcome change. Enforced late change to the starting XI didn’t work, changed it at half time with the needed subs, and saw out the game comfortably second half.

This should come with a trigger warning for those us that were in Lisbon in 2006. Albeit briefly given the delayed day trip flight I was on. Just enough time to grab a McDonald’s before going to the game! When the football is what ruins these trips and I only had time for the football… *shudder*

We're back and we're not pissed off @rodneyfarmer.bsky.social is at a gig so for the first time Davie Farrell is on and he's not trying to explain some utter shitshow or other. We cover Fir Park, Estadio da Luz, Celtic Park and The Home of Golf™️ Enjoy pod.link/1781046320

Live streaming a firing squad execution is disgusting. But given who's in charge and their long list of disgusting behaviour, nothing should surprise anyone that they don't even have a concept of disgusting.

Yep. This. They go out of their way to ruin everything. Once they finish off Academy and Strange New Worlds there's pretty much bang on 1000 episodes of Star Trek. That's plenty to watch on loop without ruining it. Even if you don't like "nu-Trek" it's still about 725 if you stop pre-JJ.

Scotland have very poor central defenders, but they look ten times worse when they are as disorganised as tonight. And twenty times worse after the substitutions. About 90% of that result was tactical. I’ve already seen enough to know Pocognoli is a dud.

£6 for a match day programme at Hampden tonight. Pretty sure they were £1 when I first went. This week and last week combined would be the same price as one issue of the quarterly Nutmeg which is nearly 200 pages long. (Or it would if it wasn't a prize, but I'll be subscribing when that runs out)

Congratulations to Celtic on winning the masters tournament masquerading as the Tennent’s Sixes that charged a fortune and didn’t even come close to filling the arena on either day. Hopefully a one-off never to be tried again. Partick Thistle remain the holders of the actual Tennent’s Sixes.

3. State that protests will now be ramped up in light of this latest disrespect from those who currently run the club (badly) against those who are the lifeblood of the club - namely the fans themselves.

Obviously @celticfcollective.bsky.social need to get together to agree all of this first. There needs to be unity against those currently in charge at the club (namely the minority shareholder and those who blindly do as he commands) as their intent, as usual, is to divide and conquer the fan base.

2. Reiterate that the “fan engagement” from the club is nothing more than a talking shop where much is promised and little is achieved. Give examples of this to back up the claim.

That should have been far more comfortable for Scotland. Been wasteful in both away games. Ended up being nervy because of a hospital pass from Andy Robertson. But North Macedonia are rotten, they’ll probably have a different manager when they come to Hampden.

Hadn’t realised they were charging £25 and £35 for the masters masquerading as the tennents sixes. Just kill it off now, an embarrassment to the name.

It can't just be me that keeps hearing about Christa Pike surviving and thinking "yeah but she's horribly disfigured now and has to live in the beep beep chair" Or maybe it is me and I just watch too much Star Trek and have a really weird niche sense of humour.

That should be the end of Jack Hendry in a Scotland jersey. Ryan Porteous was sin-dyed for a less stupid challenge than last night. At least he was trying to get the ball in Germany and was just over zealous for a low percentage ball. Hendry just blatantly pulls him back.

Nathan Patterson still looks well short of his pre-injury form. Damning that Ben Gannon-Doak did better defensively when he came on, as that’s really not his game. Need to be starting him more.

McGinn was okay in moments but still not offering enough for me. Robertson is in the team purely as captain and chasing the cap record, I’d rather see Doig at this point. Gilmour needs to not be scared to shoot. McKenna was grim. Gunn again looked suspect at times. Lots of gaps in this squad.

Lewis Ferguson’s worst game in a Scotland jersey too. Should have been booked for his first foul on Manzambi, incredibly cynical “get one in quick” tactic. Had no clue how to handle him all game.

Not many pass marks in the team overall but thought Oli McBurnie did a difficult job very well. Anything Scotland did positive seemed to involve him. Harsh on Kieron Bowie who had started well until he was understandably sacrificed.

Incidentally, I know how the double jeopardy rule works (unlike some commentators apparently) - as Hendry wasn’t legitimately trying to get the ball so he should have walked regardless of it being inside or outside the box. Free kick and red card was ultimately correct.

The news this morning suggesting that the UK pension triple lock is under threat to fund a care service for England. One of the worst pensions in Europe will get even worse, and Scotland won't even get any benefit from it. Pensioners are the most union-positive group, remember.

Dunno how I feel about the #StrangeNewWorlds season 4 finale. I enjoyed it, but none of it happened and the future was an alternate timeline anyway. Celia Rose Gooding absolutely smashed it though. Terrific performance. Nichelle Nichols would be proud.

Fergus McCann is the reason we’re in the mess we’re in right now. His sale of the club to the fans wasn’t as we’d hope but instead left an elite few in charge, specifically Dermot and those who won’t say no to him, effectively reinstating the old board setup he himself cleared out!

David McWeeney@abhoysvoice.bsky.social

Quote post your #Celticfc hot take. An opinion you hold about the club, that you think would be generally unpopular amongst the wider support.

Michael Nicholson saying they back O’Neill. Shame the likes of McGregor and Carter-Vickers have tossed him under the bus in the last couple of weeks, great backing guys!

Talk of this summer’s spend isn’t relevant to these numbers, but it was all too late to avoid missing out on the champions league again. So I’d expect next year’s numbers to be similar to this. The profit made on transfers (yes made one despite spending lots) will mitigate that a bit.

Technically they’re right, it’s a reserved matter and debating it is pretty much performative, but the immediate shout from the SNP benches stating “so is immigration” was perfect. This should be highlighted at every opportunity now.

BREAKING: Reform MSPs have stormed out of a debate on Scottish independence in Holyrood, claiming it is 'pointless and a vanity project'

I genuinely can’t decided if the WhatsApp rumours of O’Neill resigning today are the usual bullshit, or if he has offered his resignation to Michael Nicholson, he had to call Dermot Desmond to see if he can accept it but he’s been out golfing all day so they don’t know. Both are possible.
