The Cunningham & O’Connell Laboratories at Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience are recruiting a 3-year postdoc for the MAP-IT project! 🧠 Using OPM-MEG to improve localisation of epileptogenic tissue in glioma-associated epilepsy. Ideal start: Q1 2027.

Cover letter + CV with contact details of 2 referees should be submitted to Prof. Mark Cunningham (mark.cunningham@tcd.ie) with the subject heading ‘MEG PDResearcher_position’. Queries about the position can be sent to Prof. Cunningham and/or Prof. O'Connell (redmond.oconnell@tcd.ie).

Both will also be attending the MEG-UKI conference next week, so feel free to get in touch to arrange an in-person meeting then. P.S. I will also be at MEG-UKI. Come say hi if you want to chat about the neuroscience community in Dublin!

Interestingly, humans tend to be much more contrarian (boldly going against the market baseline) and divided in their opinions compared to AI agents. Here is a snapshot of the teams that humans and AI backed when the market underestimated them; and they were proven right! 📊👇

Our "insights" page updates automatically after every single match and offers more metrics and visualisations of the ongoing 🧠🤖 battle 👇 forecast2026.com/insights Plenty of football left to play, more forecasts to be made and many more insights to be uncovered! #FIFAWorldCup2026 #forecast2026

forecast2026.comForecast 2026 — Humans vs AIAfter 48 matches, it's a genuine contest: the AI edges ahead on average, but the single sharpest forecaster of the whole field is a human.

Forecast2026 leaderboards and stats are looking slick! The experts take the opening round: Mexico 2–0 South Africa. I didn’t give Mexico enough credit. I’ll be back. 🫡 #Forecast2026 #WorldCup2026

For each match, you split 100 points across: 🏠 Home win
🤝 Draw
✈️ Away win So it is not just about picking the winner. It’s about expressing how likely you think each outcome is.

Last Thursday was a day that will be hard to forget. Despite the characteristically cold Hanseatic morning, the lecture theatre at the UKE was buzzing with people who came to watch Maryam Tohidi, my very first PhD student, defending her work.

Maryam’s brother, who went the extra mile (in fact, miles) so that he could attend the defence online, crowned this moment with a few gentle and proud words, heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.
