summoned up this frame of Jessica Walter as San Francisco police detective Amy Prentiss in a short-lived series she did for NBC in 1974 to text to someone

Aldi's version of Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls......... are. wildly unacceptable

btw Standard Time starts *this weekendI* in the US, so if you are an autist or other sort of being for whom variations on your Routines can be Challenging, be aware

this is v v good btw, lotta ice creams try so hard to make the chocolate deep and dark and rich so this "light chocolate malt" makes for a gentle and satisfying base that doesn't make me feel overwhelmed after a few bites

in honor of the Student List election victory, here's one of my top five all-time Serbian Eurovision entries, 2021's "Loco Loco" by girl group Hurricane, I would ordinarily caption a Serbian pop video but I think you can get the gist from words such as "loco," "girls," and "c'mon"

campaigners for the Student List that won the Serbian election adopted the 1988 pop song "Lijte, kiše" ("Pour Down, Rain") by Zorica Marković as a campaign anthem, I'm seeing videos of thousands of people in Novi Sad and Belgrade belting out "Pour down, rain, cold water, Vučić out, Vučić out"

All the top comments under "Lijte Kiše" on YouTube are Serbs cheering on the Student List, "WHAT YOU DID TO THE PEOPLE WILL BE DONE TO YOU 🇷🇸 💪" is one with a few hundred likes

national legislative elections remaining for this year: - Israel, 10/27 - USA, 11/3 - New Zealand, 11/7 - Spain, 11/29

the lead article in the opinion section of hard-right Serbian tabloid Kurír (think NY Post) today was this: "PRE-ELECTION FORECAST BY THE CLAIRVOYANT ZORK: I am writing today's column under the pseudonym Vidoviti Zorko"

The news that Vučić has already gone out and publicly conceded is *enormous* for Serbia — his ruling party SNS called the snap elections, and there was very good reason to believe they wouldn't accept a result that didn't go their way. It has certainly not gone their way.

Here's plan the projected majority party in Serbia's parliament, Student List, has proposed. With turnout looking to be the highest it's been for any election in independent Serbia's history, they will likely have a mandate to tackle a sweeping anti-corruption/pro-freedom of speech agenda

feeling left out of the zeitgeist bc I've never been to a Cheesecake Factory, not because I'm either too elitist or too threadbare and modest to have done so, but simply because nobody has ever invited me to go to one. I would say "sure, what time?" if anybody did extend me such an offer

the Twin Cities have a significantly higher enthusiasm for NFL than my previous home so I have taken to looking up the Vikings kickoff time every Sunday to guarantee myself a low-stress grocery expedition

the official web site for the Rochester, Minn. airport encourages the good people of greater Olmsted Co. to "Flocal," with the heartwarming tagline, "Your Butt Can Make A Difference"

uplifting Tinashe today by declining to tell her the University of Iowa lost their rivalry football game today vs. the University of Minnesota

America is at the end of the day a country where two people who met as undergraduate students at the University of Iowa can produce Tinashe

ok so what actual significant nicotine v_pes are people liking these days, I haven't bought one in a few years and it feels like there are several thousand options every time you go in a store

in a novel Heated Rivalry tie-in campaign, Hennepin County, Minnesota is advertising used hockey equipment

I've never had a "self-saucing pud" bc one strategy I use in the UK is making a show of filling up on bread so I can tactfully opt out of any proffered puds

the "self-saucing pud"s on this week's GBBO mostly looked pretty good, but when you are offered this thing, you stand a good chance of being faced with something like a molten hot, sopping wet Twinkie

driving to the suburbs to buy menthol cigs. anybody need anything while I'm out there

the nobility of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth for a time believed themselves to be descended from the "Sarmatians," an Iranic people thought to have conquered the Slavic peoples, and adopted a syncretic culture based on it. Gotta admit: they did have that drip on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarmatism

the top option on every single streaming thing ever should always be "continue watching the thing you were watching last time you opened this thing"

used my phone to take a picture of a little growth on my foot and I keep looking at it like I am a dermatologist and if I squint/punch/zoom it enough I will suddenly know what it is

I will be voting on Election Day because Minnesota law requires employers to give you time off to vote without using PTO, and even provides a doctors' note from the Secretary of State 🥰

also want to remind you, gently or not, that unverified "the infernal machine switched my vote!!1!1?!" rumors are utterly bog standard every single election, but it's easily verifiable that, for example, no county in South Carolina uses DREs so what they're claiming is simply not physically possible

As we approach the midterms, remember that the Alt National Park Service is a merch sales operation claiming without evidence to be a group of federal employees, and is not a genuine source of news about elections of any kind. Please get your election info from a local, reputable source.

the online internet account "Alt National Park Service" is not in a position to ""independently verify"" jack diddly fucking squat and it is truly, sincerely, very genuinely embarrassing for you if you somehow believe this to be the case

inspired by Canadian grocery stores, the best way to endear me to your product is to have the real label be indistinguishable from something the props dept would hastily throw on something in the background of a scene when no placement deal came thru

the single category of task Google is absolutely profoundly the worst at, hands-down, every single time, with no improvement observed over a significant period of time? distinguishing whether you're searching w/r/t the country Georgia or the ADM0 of the United States Georgia. every time. hope. less.

Olivia Rodrigo - "expectations (feat. Chappell Roan)" debuting on the Lithuania 🇱🇹 singles chart at #16 iktr

I simply do not understand the pricing structure for Minnesota lifetime licenses, the cost should consistently decrease with age because there is less lifetime available in which to take advantage of said license

Big Woods State Park might sound like a lazy name, but it's a specific ecotype of deciduous forest in Minnesota and Wisconsin that are wetter than the prairies to the west and warmer than the coniferous forests to the north. Little of it remains, so it's very special to visit the few places it does.

The name "Big Woods" dates to early French explorers, who called them "Grand Bois." It's been used ever since, though you might not know Laura Ingalls Wilder was referring to a specific ecoregion in titling her book about the family's life in Pepin Co., Wisc. "Little House in the Big Woods"

2pc fish dinner with broasted potatoes and slaw ($13.95) at the Quarterback Club in Northfield, Minn.

while in other parts of America it is common to be offered sour cream with a baked potato, I have learned that in non-metropolitan Minnesota you should not be surprised to receive sour cream by default with any form of potato

having a "Fiona Apple" (dirty cold brew chai w/apple syrup and black walnut bitters) on possibly the most amazing coffee shop patio I've ever seen by the Cannon River in Northfield, Minn.

fwiw Stardew Valley is not vulnerable to any known exploits and is safe to run

a few clarifying notes: - Thing 1: browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari) are safe from the cert sitch if up to date. you're likely OK near term - Thing 2: what you use to access a web site (browser) does not itself run PHP, that's exclusively on the web site's computers. you're likely OK near term

btw whenever we computer people are talking about something security-wise, if you are a normal human being the answer to "what do I need to do?" is nearly always "apply software updates when it is suggested you do so"

"vulnerability" means "somebody with specialized knowledge might be able to do something they shouldn't be able to do" the solution is for the maintainer to make changes which make it impossible for someone to do so. but you have to be getting updates to *benefit* from those changes. apply updates!

I am not a security blog, but if you are computer and aware of any PHP in your portfolio (even embedded), a CVE with a 9.2 that smells to me like a 10 (CERT warning "consider isolating internet-facing applications from public networks") is coming in piping red hot cert.europa.eu/publications...

To put those brutal financial statements in context: LLM providers are ordering massive compute resources on basis of wishcasting that skyrocketing use will render them compute-constrained, affecting their ability to bill. But to actually recover the outlay, they'll need to bill 10-15x of today.

What Anthropic is doing is akin to building a heavy rail metro line into the countryside. They're saying, "if we don't build this, in 10 years we won't be able to charge metro fares to 1m residents," which would look smart except then you need someone else to build a city for your spend to make good

Fans of the documentary series "Riverdale" will recall that maple syrup production is uneven year over year, so to stabilize prices, Québec maintains a reserve. Anticipating tariffs, buyers in the US — who purchase 65% of their syrup — have made a supply run. Tabernak indeed!!!
