it's actually wild how little discussion there is on the world's biggest and longest ongoing cyberdisaster, like, I work in this industry and I cannot think of a problem at this scale in the last twenty years

bigger than the log4j vuln bigger than the bgp outage bigger than crowdstrike bigger than the height of ransomware taking down hospitals about as big as bot farms being used to illegally influence elections

tomorrow is municipal election day in canada's biggest city (by pop.), the day after british columbia votes for self-harm with more conservatives in power. what will tomorrow bring? a refutation of sycophant henchmen w/ orders, or choosing to build together and try for a better day?

the voting age needs to be dropped so that teenagers can leverage their existing ability to organize, so they can guide leglisation towards a future that needs to be very real: one in which there is still a climate to survive in

brad bradford is the wrong person to lead this city. He said in the 7 oct mayoral debate that AI datacenters belong in Toronto (completely misreading the room of what people want). Terrible use of real estate, geneates noise pollution & wastes water, doesn't create jobs....

walking certain neighborhoods, this definitely seems to be true of Brad Bradford

seriously, this is a huge moment for me to have something in common with an olympian and all-time greatest hockey player - this is very empowering for me so you better believe I'm pulling up this inseam and showing my sultry forearms

interviewer: can you explain this gap in your resume? network security engineer: this is standard opsec to create physically separate systems thereby minimizing their attack surface with air gapping

This post is unavailable.

all the rich Toronto yuppies hoping to elect brad bradford REALLY feels like they picked the whitest invertebrate they could find as a knee-jerk reaction to not liking the progressive asian woman

#topoli if you need to know for whom to vote: knowyourvote.to the Library put this site up, provide your postal code to see your ward and a list of the city councilors & school board trustees You'll see answers from that candidate to their boilerplate questions (if they responded)

Arguably the biggest democracy referendum next month: Virginia is one of only three states where the state constitution says people should lose their right to vote FOR THEIR ENTIRE LIFE if they are convicted of any felony. This measure would allow anyone to vote after prison.

boltsmag.org“It’s Time”: Virginians Will Decide Whether to Repeal Jim Crow-Era Lifetime Ban on Voting - BoltsVoters will decide this year whether to end Virginia’s uniquely harsh felony disenfranchisement rules. They'll also vote on abortion, gay marriage, and redistricting.

Candidates endorsed by Integrity TO and A Better City are either centrist in a time of waxing fascism or explicitly conservative in their views and goals: They are NOT good choices for the city of Toronto

This guy has a proven track record of flip-flopping in City Council votes One day he is for defunding the police, the next he wants to spend $100 million (from where???) on hiring more police for the TTC He votes to build bike lanes, he votes to destroy them

Games should really have a refresher option for people who haven't played in 3 months because they have kids/life/jobs/etc to re-teach me some controls, where are we in the story, what was I supposed to be doing

I just spoke with a retired NBA player who told me that when he got drafted, he went out for ice cream to celebrate and was denied service. All these stories are still within living memory and they're still being contested at the highest levels of our government.
