How does obesity disrupt ILC2 function and adipose tissue hoemostasis? In our latest study, we identify acetyl-CoA carboxylase 1 (ACC1) as a critical metabolic regulator of adipose ILC2 maintenance and function.

We show that excess lipids in obesity suppress ACC1 in adipose ILC2s. Our findings also point towards an unexpected role of ACC1 in maintaining citrate shuttling and the NAD⁺/NADH balance. www.cell.com/cell-metabol...

Thanks so much for invitation Steffi!
Special thanks to our keynote speakers Claudia Kemper from the NIH and Christoph Wilhelm @labwilhelm.bsky.social from Bonn University - inspiring talks 👏🏼👏🏼 about the cell autonomous function of the complement system and about how nutrition impacts our barrier immunity& immune metabolism!!

My inaugural post on Bluesky - quite fittingly, I'm thrilled to share our first study on heat acclimation, which identifies a neuronal mechanism that drives heat tolerance in mice. (www.nature.com/articles/s41... ) Here is the gist 🧵 (1/n):
Really glad we pulled this of together! @wachtenlab.bsky.social, Andreas Schlitzer and all PIs from #Metaflammation
After the celebrations of making it into the second funding period, we are now ready for a fresh start in this community - stay tuned for more information about #metaflammation #obesity from our @sfb1454.bsky.social funded by the @dfgpublic.bsky.social www.sfb1454-metaflammation.de
Thanks so much DFG for funding our CRC #1454 #Metaflammtion for another 4 years. Looking forward to unravel the immune mechanisms underlying #obesity and #diabetes together with an excellent team of scientists. www.dfg.de/de/service/p... www.sfb1454-metaflammation.de/sfb-1454/news
Congratulations @ejvillablanca.bsky.social and colleagues, super nice paper! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Ever wondered how fasting is benefiting the adaptive immune response? In @Nature we show that #ketogenesis promotes the function of #tcell in severe respiratory viral infections by providing #ketonebodies BHB as carbon source. Final edited version: www.nature.com/articles/s41...
