California will not sit idle as Donald Trump and Republicans take a wrecking ball to our democracy. This moment calls for urgency and action. That's why we’re giving voters a way to fight back and nullify congressional gains in Texas or any state that tries to rig its maps.

Donald Trump, if you will not stand down, California will be forced to lead an effort to redraw our maps to offset the rigging of maps in red states. If the other states call off their redistricting efforts, we will do the same. And American democracy will be better for it.

Donald Trump and Republicans are pushing illegal maps that violate the Voting Rights Act. Instead, Congress should pass fair, independent maps nationwide. Without that, Democratic states must consider all the options to protect our constitutional republic.

It’s time to wake up - we are literally on the verge of losing our democracy if Donald Trump cheats his way to those seats in Texas.
