Tyler Seguin was maintenance today. Esa Lindell skated in Frisco. Glen Gulutzan said he’ll get an update later today. Gulutzan said he’s hopeful that David Perron will play during the homestand but is still anticipating a two-week timeline to get him in game shape.

Final: Stars 6, Islanders 3 The Stars ran away with it in the third period, as Jason Robertson scored twice to lead Dallas to its first six-goal game of the season. That's five straight wins for the Stars.

End of first: Stars 2, Islanders 1 The Stars had just four goals in the first period all season before today — the fewest in the league. Tonight they have two, and the lead, after an action-packed start.

I actually have no idea how the Stars did not manage to score there. The puck was behind Sorokin, but somehow he cleared it. Kyle Capobianco unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Mitchell Chaffee roughing penalty. 4-on-4

What a chaotic serquence. Wizardry by Jake Oettinger to save a goal at one end. Tyler Seguin scores on a 2-on-1 chance with Jamie Benn at the other end. That was vintage Dallas. Stars lead 1-0.

Stars lines vs. Islanders: Robertson-Hintz-Seguin Kiviranta-Johnston-Rantanen J. Hryckowian-Hyry-Benn D. Hryckowian-Blackwell-Seminoff Harley-Heiskanen Bichsel-Lundkvist Capobianco-Myers Oettinger DeSmith

Jake Oettinger will start in goal tonight vs. the Islanders. Matthew Seminoff and Dylan Hryckowian are in tonight. Radek Faksa, David Perron and Sam Steel are out.

Pete DeBoer said he didn’t want to dwell on his time in Dallas and wanted to focus on the Islanders today, but he and his family remember their time here fondly, and he’s enjoyed seeing so many friends and players he coached in his return.

Final: No. 23 SMU 59, California 20 Despite trailing at halftime, SMU walks away with its most dominant win of the season. The Mustangs scored touchdowns on seven consecutive drives and shut out Cal in the second half.

Kevin Jennings throws a perfect pass to Derrick McFall for the 21-yard touchdown. That was Jennings' 73rd career passing touchdown, setting the SMU record. SMU 31, Cal 20

After giving up an uncharacteristic 20 points in the first half, SMU forced Cal to go 3 and out on its first two drives of the second half. Good adjustments so far.
