I've had this idea to have something, or someone, contrasting on the foreground, but my brain couldn't really compute anything. Some source of light, at least, because colour-wise I wanted to keep very simple.
We report: on the long tail of this week’s storm, the wind still has big teeth. It is raking the sea, throwing sea foam into the air. When there is a lull in the weather, the smell of the ocean is overwhelming; the storm must have disturbed some creatures of the abyss.
We report: the sky was still bright when we got on the train. We watched the slow spread of ink over the clouds, the gilding of the horizon, and the rain advancing our way - or rather, we are coming to the rain. Just like this, when we get off the train, it is a different world.
We report: later on, it starts pouring, but only after the sun has really finished setting. Our expert confirms it; the sun is below the horizon, and we are even a few paces into nautical twilight by the time any raindrops can be felt. We are completely taken by surprise.
t's time again for my calendar contribution. This year's theme was "Art history" and I went with one of my all time favorite paintings from Maxfield Parrish. "The Lantern Bearers"
We report: there is a little bit too much to look at in the sky this afternoon. We try to focus on the expansion of a single cloud, but something else is always happening just to the side. The light is catching on every mountain and valley that exist in the clouds.
It has been brought to my attention that there's an albino brown bear named Salt living in Norway and she has a brother named Pepper. Best news I've heard all week, had to sketch her. #bear#art#animalart#sciart
We report: the moon rose as it was already getting dark, and it was drizzling. It was only by chance that we saw it glowing through the clouds, and decided to wait until the wind pushed them away. It was a full moon yesterday, but as usual, it seemed equally full tonight.
Fly away
It’s always a pleasure to create this kind of landscape flooded with clouds 💙
Clouds, a sun, blue, yellow, and a fade in the background... I would never get tired of it.

We report: we are walking at cloud-pace today. We get the exact amount of rain that the clouds are able to make, and later on, we only get the sun that these same clouds will let through. We feel like we have travelled a lot, even though the landscape has not changed much.
We report: since we came up to the mountains, we are now in the land of the clouds. Although one might refer to this weather as « a downpour », we like to think that we are « mapping the clouds ». We have not been able to take notes in the heavy rain, but we are paying attention.
We report: it rained a lot, and our clothes have yet to dry completely. Even then, although we can feel our damp socks in our shoes, it feels like a new day when the sun comes out. It is brighter for the way it lives in puddles, in raindrops that are still suspended to the trees.
Bunch of foxes for #InternationalFoxDay!
The last one is a crab-eating fox, so not actually a true fox, but they deserve more attention and are therefore included.

I don’t speak magpie but judging from the tone I suspect my noisy neighbour is not wishing passers by a great day.

We report about drizzle on the river. We watch the smallest beads of water catch on our expert’s flyaways. It is a ghostly sort of morning; we have not come across a single person so far. We passed a cormorant perched on a buoy, and it did not even glance at us.
We report: gorse and heather are in full bloom now, and the hills smell like honey. Also, because it rained so much in the previous week, we can make out some brand new autumn smells. They are an odd, but familiar mix of rotting wood, damp chalk, and crisp nights.
We report: late afternoon, the sun is disappearing behind the cliffs. On the coast trail, in the shade of the trees, the path ahead is already a little too dark. There is a lot of humidity here, rising from the ocean, but also from a thin stream winding among horsetail.
Photos from the recent eclipse.
It took me a week to start working on those... and to notice that I caught the whole crowd on a hill few kilometers away. Almost perfectly aligned!
The camera lens I used is almost 20 years old, the autofocus motor is not working correctly, the sensor is slightly dusty, and I forget to buy proper sun filters... so lucky that I got those few photos right.
We report: we think something happened while we were under the cover of the trees, but we are unsure what it was. For a moment, though the sky had been cloudless since dawn, the light dimmed, and the wind suddenly rose. On the ground, the shadows of the leaves shifted.
Forest of Dean Colour Study II, 10.5cm x 7.5cm, watercolour on paper. This painting is one of a small series of autumn inspired works made late last year. I hadn’t used watercolour in years and decided to paint again to see if I liked working with colour.
