Getting this involved going to the junkyard (again), crawling under an impreza (again), and pulling off its shifting linkage. Last weekend I was under the same impreza pulling off the rear differential, which it turns out we didn't need because our stock Brat rear diff is the same ratio...

To be fair we thought we needed a new ratio cause we put in a WRX transmission (3.9 ratio) and couldn't find info on the old Brat one/didn't look hard enough, so when we went to put the new one on we scraped some dirt off the back of the old one revealing... It's also 3.9

We got the shifter in, note the disgustingly welded mounting plate we put in. We had to make sure the shifter is high enough above the drive line cause there's not a lot of room. I'm pleased with it!

CORRECTION EVERYONE I've got the title and this Brat is a 1985 Brat, not a 1987. I can't imagine the relevance of that but I don't want some weird nerd um actuallying me.

Here's Maggie enjoying some rare shop dog time in the middle of us taking out the drive line and exhaust. The first step of the whole project (and currently is the whole project cause I haven't planned anything else) is to swap the engine to an EJ20 turbo from a Forester

So we got the first half of that done today. We got the old engine out, and I put the tailgate back on! The Brat had been rear ended before it landed in my hands so some finagling was necessary to get the tailgate on cause of the damage. And I'm thinking no back bumper, I like the look without

I don't know a single fucking thing about working on cars BUT my partner's dad has a whole garage on his property and restores cars for a living. So that was a big reason I got the car, basically the feasibility of actually fixing it up was there.

I'm serious though, like obviously you go through the prison so you know *how* to play but as soon as the game opens up to the greater world, it hits you with this one sentence that explains everything you need to know. try to kindle another bonfire. enemies to strong to reach it? level up.
