Seems crazy to imagine a future where everybody adopts AI and accepts that art is just going to be vapid and empty forever (yet it will somehow still be perceived as valuable enough for people to spend money on), meanwhile nobody has any imagination for a world where money becomes irrelevent.

I think even a year ago I would pushed back against the NFT comparisons but it really is the second wind. Rich people think they can pass their increasingly elaborate scams to sell nothing for something onto the rest of the world because that's all they know.

The whole thing loops back around to why would I think a 1200 dollar console that plays mostly safe bets is worth it as the adult enthusiast. If I'm crazy enough to spend 2000 cad on a console I'm also crazy enough to play tons of weird shit and losing out on one God Of War doesn't matter.

Getting into more of the nitty gritty history of communism and post-World War II politics really highlights what a fucker Japan was. I'm already used to thinking of the U.S. and Germany as the villains of history but imperial Japan is in every one of these communist backstories too.
