Used my first day of fall break to go vote!

Emily L. Hauser (she/her) ❌👑@emilylhauser.bsky.social

PS -IF YOU CAN, VOTE EARLY There *will* be post-election madness; the more votes banked early, the harder it will be to mess with the results. -IF IT'S AT ALL POSSIBLE, *PLEASE* VOTE/DROP OFF YOUR BALLOT IN PERSON It'll be harder to mess with in-person results. chart via @bittersouth.bsky.social

Meijer was out of cream of celery, but they had cream of jalapeno, which I did not know existed before today. And now I have a new chicken casserole recipe. It was so, so good.

So Emma Woodhouse is a pretty girl who is pretty smart, pretty rich, and pretty much has no problems whatsoever. We’re off to a roaring start.

My very favorite snack is cherry tomatoes that I eat as I pick.

Courtney Milan@courtneymilan.com

So the interesting thing about this is that some people think that it’s just the tomato varieties, and it’s not. I have had beautiful heirloom tomatoes from farmer’s markets and it’s still not the same as a tomato picked off the vine and eaten.

Starting to wonder if their mid-term strategy is no one has gas to drive to the polls.

Total US oil inventories held by commercial companies and the US government. Last week, inventories fell by another 3 million barrels. (via Mercx)

I feel like Melvin Coffeemaker would be a winner.

your baseball pitcher name is your grandfather’s first name and the last thing you bought i’ll go first mine’s Dominic Sandals

The kitten (who is technically almost an adult 😭) has convinced the adult that running water is fun so now they both come running whenever I go to the bathroom.

Thankful that this tornado warning: 1. Did not last long, 2. Started after I finished cooking supper, if not after we finished eating it. We consolidated all the uneaten food onto one plate to finish in the basement. May this weather system chill out as it passes through.

Reading this made me feel better about the world for a few minutes.

It is time once again to discuss the Most Dad Things we have done in the past year. A couple of reminders: - gender is a social construct, anyone can do Dad Things - you need not be a parent to do a Dad Thing - the definition of a Dad Thing is entirely subjective and maybe made up I’ll go first:

Nine years ago, I divided one enormous hosta into eight hostas. Today, I divided those eight into two wheelbarrows full plus what I left where the eight were originally planted. Nature is so cool.

Red Clay State Park, on repeat, until the Tennessee Aquarium opened, when it became the go-to. I am mildly curious if field trips still go to Red Clay.

Moved everything from the kitchen freezer done to the basement chest freezer which should keep the power from going out, but if it doesn't, at least everything is in the chest freezer.

Still valid. I've got my joy planned for the night but need to decide on my spite.

I am not watching one single thing produced by or orchestrated by that administration. That's their propaganda. Why would I make it easy on them? Inviting everyone to join me on Jan 20th in doing one thing you love, and one thing they would hate. Joy & spite, y'all. Joy and spite.

I don't think I could be with a man who didn't love Encyclopedia Brown as a child (assuming he had access to it).

Saeed Jones@theferocity.bsky.social

You mean you’re dating a man who can’t even read Heated Rivalry???? Cat in the Hat???? Encyclopedia Brown???? And you let him… inside you?????

Over the weekend, we mounted these platforms in my office so the kitten can entertain himself while I work. Tiny problem with that plan: I don't want to work when I can watch the kitten entertaining himself.

The kitten has a nasty eye infection so he got to meet the vet today and we learned he's less kitten than we thought - based on his teeth, he's six months instead of not quite four.
