At Energy UK's conference yesterday Ed Davey rounded off the day outlining how our energy security is national security, and investment into clean energy and electrification is the path forward.

Ed Davey also called on the Government to establish a National Electrification Strategy and an Energy Security Bank to set out a framework for our energy transition that will lower bills and accelerate electrification. You can read more here: www.libdems.org.uk/news/article...
Great coverage in The Guardian today of our new data with @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social on access to nature. Get in touch if you'd like to know how many households in your constituency have low access to nature and what the Government should do about it... www.theguardian.com/environment/...
@sarahdykeld.bsky.social is calling for the Government to help farms in the face of climate change, particularly highlighting the need for investment into better flood resilience to help protect farmers, their local communities, and the UK’s food security.

👏 Fantastic news that the UK intends to invest £400m in the Tropical Forest Forever Facility. This is a result of a huge effort across orgs and MPs, including the CNCC, who, alongside @ldnc-uk.bsky.social brought together 60 cross-party MPs to write to the PM at COP30 and help secure this pledge.
Up and down the country, communities are already benefiting from climate action and the clean energy transition. But after a summer of extreme weather, we need to go further to help communities prepare for the impacts of climate change while supporting them to protect and improve their communities.
Read about LDNC's energy and climate tour with @pippaheylings.bsky.social and The Big Shift Bureau this summer, and why a new form of political leadership is needed from Westminster with cross-party talks to prepare the country for climate change. Read more: www.businessgreen.com/opinion/4535...
The UK’s climate action is working. We are cutting emissions, growing clean energy and showing that tackling climate change can strengthen our economy and energy security. After a summer of extreme weather, now is the time to reaffirm our climate commitments, not abandon them.

Extreme heat, drought and wildfires have battered communities across the UK this summer, with people increasingly feeling the impacts of climate change in their everyday lives. Read more in The Guardian here: www.theguardian.com/environment/...
Access to nature shouldn't be a postcode lottery. 🌿 Yet, despite Government commitments, 1 in 5 households in England still can't reach a green or blue space within a 15-minute walk. Our new analysis with @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social shows which constituencies are missing out most.

The UK can lead the world in climate technology. But too many promising businesses are looking to the US and EU to grow. Read Edward Morello's op-ed on how politics and policy are holding back the businesses of tomorrow - and how the government can fix it 👇 www.politicshome.com/opinion/arti...
Today, as the UK faces a red warning for extreme heat, MPs will vote on the Seventh Carbon Budget. Read @pippaheylings.bsky.social blog on why the Lib Dems support the new target but why the Government must look beyond energy supply in reducing emissions. ldnc.org.uk/blog/carbon-...
WATCH: As extreme heat grips the country and climate impacts intensify, @eddavey.libdems.org.uk uses PMQs to take on those who want to break the consensus on tackling climate change and risk pushing temperatures even higher 👇
The cost of inaction on climate change is far greater than the cost of acting now. Read @pippaheylings.bsky.social blog on why the Liberal Democrats support the Government's new emissions reduction target, but why targets must be backed by real delivery 👇 ldnc.org.uk/blog/carbon-...
“It is fantasy and fabrication to pretend there is a solution in the North Sea to high energy prices” @eddavey.libdems.org.uk response to the King’s Speech sets a clear choice: keep relying on volatile fossil fuels, or invest in British renewables to strengthen energy security and bring down bills.
Our chalk streams are among the rarest habitats on Earth, yet they are in poor health and dangerously under-protected. Today @pippaheylings.bsky.social will introduce a Bill to nominate the UK’s chalk streams as a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site. Read the letter from MPs backing this campaign 👇

Is the Treasury sabotaging Britain’s climate leadership? @pippaheylings.bsky.social warns that narrow Treasury rules are blocking the UK from supporting the TFFF, a global plan to protect rainforests. The Govt must listen to cross-party calls to back the TFFF. www.politics.co.uk/mp-comment/2...

🐦Great to see @politico.eu cover our research with @moreincommonuk.bsky.social on how Lib Dem voters view environmental issues — and what this means for the Party’s future 👇
The Liberal Democrats — the third-biggest party in the UK parliament — reckon they have found a winning political formula as they seek to hoover up Tory voters. It involves talking about the climate. A lot.
