The question "What key actions helped you reach your level?” is a bit unfortunate, imho. It invites the assumption that barriers can & should generally be overcome through personal effort. Which shifts the attention away from a system that unnecessarily made them barriers in the first place.

As for your second question, this is exactly what the drill was designed for. We have tested it in icy lunar regolith simulant with ample margin, and we were still able to reach a depth of one metre. Of course, no one can eliminate the risk of exploring a new, harsh location for the first time.

I kind of disagree. NASA was never “in house” — it owned the strategy and the mission, but it always relied on a private sector to innovate and deliver. The difference now is the monopoly. Too much reliance on one vertically integrated partner who now has too much leverage. Gotta blow that up.
