i have this process video i did too, for fun. i wanted to try something similar to what i’ve seen other artists do with pencils

i feel like i have such great artistic insight as long as you’re not interested in making money or succeeding

sometimes the pursuit of making more earnest art can also be the route to success. so don’t knock it. again, i will try to insist—you can make money making art. but you can also make art you’re satisfied with. sometimes mutually exclusive, sometimes not. don’t let capitalism corrupt your own honesty

but! you do not have to listen to me—an artist who is unemployed and running out of savings at 33. just do your best, as we all must do.

no, honestly! i’m no artistic genius, but sometimes too much art advice is catered to entrepreneurship and career and money and it has to be because that’s what we want and need to survive. but surely there is more to artistic life than just survival. but we are tired, i know…

idk if this is too severe a take: as “bad” as it’s seen to shift styles/tone/genre/etc, isn’t it also rough sometimes to watch an artist for awhile and be into their whole deal until you’re… not… because they keep doing the same thing… even when what they do is good…

either way can be a successful and fulfilling path for artist and viewer alike. what do you want your oeuvre to look like as a whole when you die? (not to be that kinda guy)… it’s valid. but do what you *want* to do. self-fulfillment is the only lasting thing you can have as an artist sometimes

but what i’m saying is… i personally get tired when i see artists explore the same things/styles/etc. without growth. i think sharing your own artistic growth and journey is part of what’s enjoyable for the viewer as well, the vulnerability that goes into *changing*, particularly in the present day

i’ve seen some times that artists online can’t seem to grow and change, not because they aren’t capable as artists but because capitalism/the internet as an entity has determined such and such effort is more successful than another. it’s profitable to repeat success, i understand that.

i totally understand this internally and externally from the side of the artist and the viewer. an artist explores their own path at their own pace. this is or isn’t viewer dependent, depending on the stakes for the artist. the viewer may also appreciate knowing what to expect every time.

had a lot of thoughts and feelings well up suddenly, on memory and nostalgia. it’s too many to say, so i put a record on and drew them.

i have an embarrassing weakness for those videos that are real life people imitating how people act in video games. it gets me every time. there’s never a real punchline. they’re just fun and creative i think… i’m not even a real gamer (though if i saw one for the sims, the Only Game, i’d love it)

I sewed and hand-embroidered this jacket; it is finally done after a long procrastination on doing the lettering

i will maybe die on the hill that patti smith nowadays would have been a eventually to be non-binary transmasc fujo on tumblr

last time this year i do a new portrait, i swear... i needed one for something and hated my current one. you can probably tell, i don't like self portraits lol... at least this is a slightly better likeness.

i condensed a full comic page into five minutes!! wouldn’t it be great if drawing took that long? (actually wouldn’t have it any other way)
