Imagine if they did to UN humanitarian aid what they did to USAID. Well, I'm sure *they* imagined just that, and that's why they're doing it. Like with the actions against the ICC, it's all about returning the world to the age of might makes right. No surprise that Russia is supposedly on board.

It's probably not gonna happen so no need to worry, but people shouldn't dismiss this as just a troll move. As Secretary-General, Orban would be able to control hiring and fund allocation to grind the UN to a halt. This should be interpreted as a clumsy attempt by a revisionist power to DOGE the UN.

Flavio is actually so stupid guys, he made this bizarre gaffe near the end of the campaign at the debate when he made fun of Lula for only having nine fingers, and then Lula was like "bro I lost this in an industrial accident when I was a child labourer" and then Flavio was like "oh, sorry".

But like, what the fuck was he thinking? If someone has a missing finger, it's either from a tragic event like that or from a birth defect, and in both cases you're gonna have to apologise. Did he actually think there was a universe where he wouldn't have to apologise right away?

Some of you people have forgotten the name, but this woman isn't any old pundit; she is the former Democratic campaign operative who credited the ACA for saving her life and then voted for Donald Trump in 2024 because of 'woke coastal elitism'. So this kind of angle is entirely on brand

>Catholic >can speak Spanish >named Cortes >supported by numerous groups tired of being sacrificed >led their forces to a decisive victory in the 20s >be AOC >pic unrelated

Obligatory note that Spanish imperialism was evil and that the practices of the Aztec Empire were no justification for the Spanish did, I'm not a Catholic integralist

"Folks, we have very smart people, very high IQ, the best genes, they're like look, this group - we split 'em up, okay? It's called - they call it Sankey - we split 'em up, and then the guys - and gals too, believe it or not - have a look. And the radical left, the Dumocrats, it just kills them."

What if instead of Double Victory it was Double Vivektory and the Vivek of 2026 goes back in time to 2023 to help his old self lose the presidential primary even harder

Reading Nixonland, I couldn't help but notice how some of the reactionary suburbanites sounded like a reverse Evelyn Normielib; to some degree there has been a personality realignment. The type who rages at perceived moral decay and a world going mad can now be channelled towards woke revanchism.

I have personally heard boomers say that “Charlie Kirk had it coming just like those rioters at Kent State” so I feel fairly confident that this is at least a possibility

Let's just embrace it. We are the new Nixonians. Whatever happened to rainbow flags and girl power? The world's going crazy, hopped up on race madness and wounded masculinity, and we are the ones standing athwart history, refusing to yield. We are civilisation, and they are the deluge.

This is kind of toxic but when I was young I kinda wished someone would harass me in a racist way so I could own them with stoic liberal wit

And then Otzma Yehudit (Ben Gvir's party) had a surprisingly genial spokesman who put a more civil veneer on the party, and he was basically like "wow, I'm so happy to see everyone agrees with us, so good to have unity 🥰"

The guy from the Democrats was the least bad of the people there of course, but rather than presenting a positive vision, he kept just deflecting to Netanyahu and running away from past statements. "Oh no, we never said the IDF was starving people, that's out of context, now anyway, Bibi said this"

The Reservists Party (single issue universal conscription party) spokeswoman said that the problem is 'Palestinianism', and that what you have to do is annex most of the strip and then give the rest autonomy after they stop identifying as Palestinian and identify as Egyptian or something instead

Amcha Yisrael (basically just a fan club for a right wing general) said that they had a humanitarian solution, which consisted of creating a combat-free zone for women and children (somehow separated from the men), who would be allowed to eat and drink and leave 'voluntarily'. The men? Well,

Other hits included when the spokesman for Yisrael Beiteinu (secular right-wing party, part of the opposition coalition) said that the reason Israel hadn't secured peace was because Netanyahu had assumed too much responsibility for the care and protection of civilians, instead of none at all

Or when the spokeswoman for Yashar rambled for two minutes how the problem with Netanyahu is that he failed, but that her party would take a radical step and succeed. She did not say how, just promised they would. Ironically, finished up by saying that her party offers concrete action, not words.

People can say "it's childish to expect the state to fix your ennui" and "it's not the place of the liberal state to provide meaning" all they want, but the truth is that if we don't provide it, someone else will. In this age of comfort, the future of liberalism requires us to find an answer.

feels like at least part of what is happening is that a lot of people want politics to solve the "my life feels empty" problem and the populist right is directly appealing to them

I mean come on, this should be so easy. The end of history might not be a heroic age, but Donald Trump and his ilk have ushered in a new age of the hero, in which everything is up in the air and everything is at stake. The efforts of those with daring and determination can change the world.

We will build wonders that will last for centuries. We will make manifest the promise of liberty. We will put an end to poverty the world over and bring about an age of plenty. Millions of idealistic young Americans, from every walk of life, spreading across the world to build the promised land.

Legal consequences and structural reform are necessary, but there is no substitute for civic virtue and a healthy political culture. The cultural and informational conditions in which politics operates are super important, and haven't gotten nearly enough attention. We have to fight social media.

the brazil thing is so depressing because they did the right thing, man they did what we couldn’t, they actually prosecuted their coup and threw bolsonaro’s ass in jail and generally showed the united states what a functional state looks like and now they are gonna elect his dipshit son? really?

What we need is a reinvigorated liberalism that not only understands security, liberty and economic justice as requiring state action, but also the civic and cultural conditions which are the foundation of a free society.

>discover new high-trust society advocacy group >ask if they're cosmopolitan or ethnostatist >they don't understand >explain what is cosmopolitan and what is ethnostatist >they laugh and s- oh never mind they just yelled 15 racial slurs >ethnostatist, then

I believe that there should be sanctions and a policy of containment against the State of Israel, and also that antisemites should be either forcibly reeducated or taken out back. I suppose this makes me a centrist in the current discourse.

Execution by lethal injection is not done for the sake of the inmate, but for our sake. It is not to reduce their suffering, but to reduce our guilt. It is so that the people who continue to support the barbarism of capital punishment are insulated from the ugly reality of killing a human being.

If it was really to minimise the pain of execution, then a 50 cal to the head is much more humane. But only the most bloodthirsty would cheer for that. The 'civilised' majority has learned to recoil, because they've grown to hate having blood splattered on their hands. But nonetheless, it is there.

Isn't it rather sick, that the lethal cocktail contains a paralytic, such that even if the rest of it was messed up and the victim was condemned to experience a pain compared to burning up, that they would nonetheless suffer in silence, incapable of even a scream? That is how we cover our ears.

This is a country where young women have fewer legal rights than their mothers did, and where MeToo was opposed by male backlash from the highest levels of power and influence. And still some wonder why the young women of America feel disillusioned. This is a moment crying out for woke revanchism.

Rape culture operates as a mob phenomenon in which participants protect their own even if they were not themselves involved. I don't think it would be sufficient to limit the wrath of the state and civilised society only to the direct perpetrators. Thousands must learn to fear again. Millions, even.

What anti-MeToo pundits don't accept is that freedom requires order, and that this is also true of sex. It's not enough to tear down the old patriarchal sexual norms and leave a vacuum. You have to establish a new ethic of consent. MeToo is nothing less than the completion of the sexual revolution.

Those who rape with impunity, and those who defend and cover for them, are analogous to the bandits who take advantage of the vacuum of authority which occurs immediately after the start of a revolution. But soon enough, the new order will make itself felt and they will learn to fear again.

Guy who takes the woke cosmopolitan position on everything, but in the language of palingenetic ultranationalism "I can't vote for the GOP, they reject struggle and novelty. Their program is degenerate. I support AOC; she can channel the passions of the people into realising national destiny."
