Increasingly irritated that it seems like even the simplest conversation (other than with friends) has to be a video call. This is ridiculous. Bad enough that even a quick five-minute clarification discussion has to be scheduled. But then it has to be a video call in addition? 😒

What book was widely panned that you absolutely loved? I might need to read it. I'm often shocked to see the popular reviews of the books I adored. Not *always* terrible, but quite often surprisingly lower than I could have imagined.

I don't want a new smartphone (mine is ancient, and more privacy-secure that way), but I *do* want a digital camera that doesn't take abysmal pictures but is still pocketable and simple (point-and-shoot). Anyone on here have any ideas or recommendations?

Reposting, because today's the day (in the US, anyway). Hey, I rhymed!

The U.S. celebrates labor this weekend / next Monday. More countries by far celebrated labor on the 1st of May. Here's the reason for the difference.

Saw a recent reference to the show "Twin Peaks." All these years later, and still it comes up. I've never watched it. Does it hold up even for people who aren't watching it for nostalgia reasons?

The only thing saving me from end-of-vacation doldrums is a visit next weekend from a friend and her husband. Any other tips for sidestepping the immediate-post-vacation doldrums (other than planning the next one)?

A year or so ago, I asked the crew here for novella recommendations and got some FANTASTIC reads in return. I now need more novellas to read! Are there any you’ve recently read and loved?

I once road trips where I hit the highway for hours at a stretch. Now I can barely make it a ninety minutes before I'm desperate for it to be over already or at least for an extended break involving some kind of adventure. (No, simply stopping for food doesn't count.) What changed, I wonder?

Now that we're shockingly more than halfway through 2026, does anyone have a best-book-read-so-far-this-year to name for me as a recommendation? (I'm always looking for recommendations!)
