This is why people were so dumb to clamor for McConnell's return. He's back, and he voted for Byrne. Y'all should have just let him moulder away in that nursing home.

Senate Press Gallery@senatepress.bsky.social

By a vote of 47-46, the #Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Matthew R. Byrne to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of Ohio. Party-line vote with Senators Coons, Cramer, Marshall, Murkowski, Risch, Schmitt, and Tillis.

Today seems like a good day to remind everyone that 658 Cantor Fitzgerald employees were reported missing on 9/11/01 and Howard Lutnick canceled their paychecks two days later, before they were even confirmed dead. Then he went on TV and pretended to cry about them.

The McConnell discourse is starting up again and it is all just too stupid to engage with. Whether he is dead, in a coma, or just his usual malevolent self, the reality is he is taking up a seat that would otherwise be occupied by another Republican and NOT VOTING. Why are people complaining?

So Trump’s position is that elections under him were the most corrupt in the world, then Biden was elected (by the Communist Party of China) and four years later they all oversaw a fair election that he won

Maternal deaths in states with abortion bans have increased 9.2% since Amy Coney Barrett voted in favor of the Dobbs decision. And she is sitting on Capitol Hill today asking the grieving partners, families, and children of her victims to pay for her own personal security. How offensive.

Spectacular own goal. I wish all the "SO YOU WANT SUSAN COLLINS TO WIN" a very pleasant Susan Collins Winning

It’s kind of funny that Chris Hayes is on TV right now blathering about soccer and has not even mentioned, let alone apologized for, that softball interview in which he got completely rolled by Platner.

people got mad at me yesterday when i said the dems were not ready to take court reform seriously. 5-4 for non-racial citizenship is not a win, it's a reprieve bsky.app/profile/schu...

Chuck Schumer@schumer.senate.gov

Despite Trump’s best efforts to bully them, the Supreme Court just reaffirmed that if you are born in America, you belong in America.

This, exactly.

I’m pretty sure that they mean that the Republicans have the majority and to stop blaming Democrats for all the shit that Republicans do. And if leftists aren’t smart enough to vote for people who would keep Republicans out of power, why in the hell would we want them to be in charge?

Just left a message for my senator, Elizabeth Warren, demanding that she withdraw her endorsement of Platner in light of today's revelations. I urge everyone in MA to do the same.

This is the absolute correct framing of this entire debacle.

This is a performative war of macho posturing by third rate figures who mistake the audience of social media and right wing cable TV for the gravitas (?) of diplomacy and foreign policy. It would be comic if it was not so painfully tragic.

I can’t stop thinking about Alex Pretti’s parents. Finding out about their son’s death from a reporter who called them for comment. Scrutinizing the murder video to see if they recognized him. Having to identify his body. Hearing him defamed by the government. How will they ever survive this?

Been seeing a lot of posts calling 1/6/21 the most shameful day in American history. They're wrong. The most shameful day in American history was 11/5/24, when 77 million voters looked at the evidence, shrugged, and re-elected Donald Trump. And another 70 million+ couldn't be bothered to stop them.

“Do it the right way,” they said. And yet here we are. I hate these people.

This really is grotesque: they went through years-long citizenship processes and are now being denied simply because if the country they are from. It’s formalized bigotry.

Now he needs to spend the rest of his life atoning for the actions that put Trump in office in the first place.

Comey: "I'm grateful the court ended the case against me, which was a prosecution based on malevolence & incompetence... I was inspired by the career people who refused to be part of this travesty. It cost some of them their jobs, but it preserved their integrity, which is beyond price"

I always knew Katy Tur was a hack, but she literally just said on her show that the Epstein allegations are “gross” because “It’s not like he had a daughter and these were just friends of hers who were coming around.” Is she auditioning for Megan Kelly’s job?

I’ll help. They’ve already ruined the em dash; if they come from my Oxford commas I will rain hellfire down upon them the likes of which the world has never seen.

"Oxford commas are a sign you write with ai" I will find such a unique way to rip out your spine that they'll make a movie about it

This White House is the real-world embodiment of Randall Flagg's Las Vegas in "The Stand." It attracts the worst possible people and encourages them to do the worst possible things in the name of the worst possible leader this nation has ever seen.

I love this for Republicans. They’ve been out there all week defending this shutdown at his behest, and, because he wants to look like the hero, he just cut them off at the knees.

I agree with all of this.

All. Of. This. My former colleague Stuart Stevens knocks it out of the park here. We have to stop being polite. Fight like our lives depend on it because they do. www.lincolnsquare.media/p/my-plea-to...

Amplifying this for visibility. I haven’t been able to get my appointment yet because my area does not yet have the vaccines in stock, but my experience was similar. And that list of qualifying conditions covers pretty much everyone.

This post is unavailable.

Update: I just read that the CVS locations in Massachusetts are holding off on scheduling until the vaccine panel approves the new version. Fuck them. I’m scheduled for mine in Providence next weekend.
