What is this, a squad announcement for ants?!?!? Rule and Kennedy not named makes sense as they haven’t been in their club match day squad recently. Overall some good balance of new and old! Usual suspects though but that’s expected considering how close to a World Cup we are. #matildas

Lots of european competition women’s football overnight but I want to draw your attention to this epic defensive effort by Hearts in the UEFA Europa Cup. Haven’t seen such a siege defence since the Siege of Orleans in the 15th century.

Obviously haven’t been following much as I usually do, because I just realised Dario is no longer the Brighton coach in the WSL and is a favourite for the Angel City gig?!?

Influencers at major sporting events is very much a vibe. Didn’t surprise me re articles about issues at the US Open considering Craig Tilley is now in charge of it after what happened at the Aus Open. Now seeing so many posting at the MCG for the NFL game just shows the growing role they have.

So, the face of the Matildas epic World Cup on home soil, who drew in high crowds after the world cup, is back playing in Australia for Melbourne City! I bet they'll have an early home game at their biggest stadium to make a spectacle of it, right? Round 4, at Casey Fields. Do better, A-Leagues

EVE back in the top league of English football after leaving relegated Leicester City to the team they lost the promotion/playoff final to, Charlton Athletic. Good to see her back in the WSL, it'll be interesting to see how a possession based player plays in a club expected to struggle. Again.

Destination for Laura Hughes confirmed with WSL 2 side Southampton signing her. The south coast team have been hovering around the mid table consistently since their promotion to the WSL 2 side in 2022, so it's a pretty stable team to go to (famous last words) for testing out english football.

Can't wait for it to be gamed though

EXCL: English football agrees trial to eradicate the goalkeeper injury tactical timeout. Coach has 10 seconds to select an outfield player to leave the field for one minute. Applied this season across: Premier League EFL National League WSL 👇 www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...

Oh look, a tactical change is required and Arnold's gone down right when her team needs it. Quite frankly it pisses me off, even when it's for the Matildas, so the moment that rule change is properly enforced around the world, the happier I'll be. #NWSL #PORvGFC

Do find it weird that a player who got a conviction (suspended) for a child pornographery offence is playing and scoring at a world cup but then again this is being held mostly in the USA, so ya know.

Good to see Bryleeh Henry join fellow Matildas Remy Siemsen and Izzy Gomez at FC Rosengård in the Swedish Damallsvenskan. A good standard to get to grips with European football.

Bryleeh Henry and Alexia Apostolakis leaving Melbourne City to pursue "opportunities overseas". That plus the very likely Holly Mac departure means their talent conveyor belt will be tested. Most likely just grab the best from Central Coast and Canberry tbh

Big for Socceroos. If we don't lose against Paraguay, we end up second in the group, which means R16 against Group G runner up (from Iran, NZ, Belgium, Egypt). Compare that to if we come third, which means winners of E, K, I which is likely Colombia, France or Germany. #FIFAWC2026

All good gang, I've worked it out. Socceroos just copying the Matildas tbh. Win first game, shit game second, to smash the third game and get to the semi final where we'll burn out.

Bingo. Tactically nailed it against Turkiye. Absolutely ballsed it up today.

Outrageously annoying performance. The second half shows that if Australia wants to actually play, it can. Got the first half completely wrong tactically. #USAAUS

Not me signing Alana Murphy, Izzy Gomez, Pia Blok for my #FM26 save for Canberra United and now trying to work out how to fit them all into a midfield with Beth Gordon, Darcey Malone and Mary Stanic-Floody. Oops.

Me: oh great the end of the gambling sponsor for my Crystal Palace, I can't wait to want to buy a shirt again! Checks notification Me: oh it's now an open sourced software company powering AI? Blurgh

Izzy Gomez wins the Julie Dolan Medal for best player in the Dub for the 2025/26 season. I have thoughts, but no denying she's arguably due for a stint in a higher league. #ALW

Ex-Dub, Ex-Matilda and current Football Fern Indiah-Paige Riley is leaving recently promoted to WSL side Crystal Palace after two seasons with them. As both a Palace fan and a fan of ex-Dub players playing for us, this is sad times. Intrigued to see where she goes next!

Cropped the original pic because it was so bloody small (who the hell approved that design) Look I don't hate it, and it's nice to include a junior Matilda in for the third keeper spot with Micah and Whyman both out. Good to see Alana Murphy and Gomez around the squad. #Matildas

Credit to Melbourne City just forgetting to play football for a good part of this half to bring Wellington back into the game. Has made it much more interesting for the viewers. #MCYvWEL #ALW

Tbh sometimes I do wonder if sports commentators nowadays are actually watching the game. A few instances already where the comments are just way off from what's actually happened. #MCYvWEL #ALW
