Access to healthcare matters. Making life more affordable matters. Our right to vote matters. Mississippi matters. Thank you to VP Kamala Harris for knowing just how much our state matters. When Mississippi succeeds, our nation succeeds. Let’s win big on November 3rd!

Former Vice President Kamala Harris visited Clarksdale today to discuss healthcare access and campaign for Scott Colom for Senate.

So glad to see the national party stalwarts leaning in for @scolom.bsky.social

Pete Buttigieg to campaign for Scott Colom in Mississippi Form President Barack Obama appears in an ad for Colom, and several other national Democrats are helping him campaign in Mississippi. https://mississippitoday.org/2026/10/13/pete-buttigieg-to-campaign-for-scott-colom-in-mississippi/

I’m grateful to President @barackobama.bsky.social for his support. I hear it in every county I visit: costs keep going up, families are worried about their healthcare and their hospitals, and folks feel like Washington stopped listening a long time ago. We're going to change that on November 3rd.

Y'all, I'm excited to announce we are officially launching Canvass with Colom this Friday, October 2nd, on the Gulf Coast — and my friend Senator @corybooker.com is headed down to kick things off with us!

I’ve gotta say this is just a terrible look for Scott Colom. He handled himself poorly here. Voting GOP in 2024 is a bad look. He’s gonna really need to get this cleaned up.

Ty Pinkins for Mississippi@typinkins.bsky.social

Scott Colom began this interview by calling what was said about his voting record “lies.” Moments later, he acknowledged that he voted Republican in Mississippi’s 2024 primary. A candidate’s voting record is part of the résumé voters are entitled to examine. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ee2v...

This is bullshit. SPLC is a bastion of freedom and a bulwark against hate. When you get sued by Trump you know you are over the target. I hope the SPLC staff I know mops the floor with DOJ.

Politico@politico.com

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which is best known for its tracking of hate groups, said that the Justice Department has launched a criminal investigation into the nonprofit regarding their use of informants.

You can feel it on the ground. Colom’s message is starting to penetrate the Black electorate and white Mississippians are starting to turn away from Trump. A WINNING COMBO!

A new poll of Mississippi's U.S. Senate race from Impact Research has Democrat Scott Colom trailing incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith by just 3 points. With leaners added, she's ahead 47%-44%. Trump won Mississippi by 61%-38% in 2024. www.splcactionfund.org/wp-content/u...

Trump says Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is dead, calling it the ‘greatest chance’ for Iranians to take back the country in a Truth Social post Saturday afternoon. The president also said “heavy and pinpoint bombing” was to continue “uninterrupted” through the week or longer. buff.ly/oudKuJr

If the rules are that people can carry guns around then they should be able to carry guns around - protest or not.

Ashton Pittman@ashtonpittman.bsky.social

NEW: In response to Alex Pretti's killing, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves said that it was "really hard to watch" protesters carrying upside-down American flags. He called protesters "lawless hordes" and said they should go "back to Mogadishu." He also blamed Pretti for (legally) carrying a gun.

We are caving! Shit! And for what? A vote on Obamacare subsidies in December? That will fail! Seriously? This is what we’ve held up SNAP benefits and TSA salaries for? Heads should roll. Schumer should be out.

We are so close to breaking the republicans. But we CANNOT cave. Not now.

Speaker Johnson has decided to keep the House in recess all through next week. This will be the seventh consecutive week of recess for the chamber. It has not been in session since Sept. 19.

I just don’t understand the media response. Surely there are named victims of these attacks. Victims that have families. Victims that have stories that can be told. There’s been none of that during this saga. Why?

Another illegal US maritime strike—again in the Pacific. Against a vessel allegedly operated by an unspecified "designated terrorist organization." Four reported fatalities—dubbed w/o ID or evidence "narco-terrorists." There's a word for premeditated killings outside of armed conflict.

I have eaten at Tarasque twice since the incident to support her. Everyone needs to know that eating there supports her freedom.

This case will show one way or the other what Millsaps is about. They were leaders on civil rights. Thr rights of a professor to speak truth far outweighs donors or administration concerns. Millsaps, Mississippi is watching!👀

Former Millsaps College tenured professor James Bowley lost his job after he sent an email to students saying that he needed time to “mourn and process this racist fascist country" following the 2024 election. Now, he's suing the college. buff.ly/keie8WT

This is the narrative we need. Portraying DT as a racist and having the media blame DT for the shutdown. They have to be on our side for this one.

CNN@cnn.com

As the US government barrels toward a shutdown, President Donald Trump shared a racist AI‑generated video on social media, depicting House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wearing a sombrero and a mustache and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer speaking in a fake voice. https://cnn.it/4pMWWat

ABC has a college football triple header on Saturday, starting with Notre Dame in the morning and ending with Alabama-Georgia in prime time. Disney should inform its Sinclair affiliates that if they won’t air Kimmel, they won’t get any games either.

I’m not a giant Kimmel fan tbh but I will be watching tomorrow night! We should celebrate our wins against the Trump regime anytime we can get them. I’m just glad they didn’t haul JK away in handcuffs. LONG LIVE FREE SPEECH!

Molly Jong-Fast@mollyjongfast.bsky.social

Jimmy Kimmel is a great example of how pushback works and also how completely craven Shari Redstone was canceling Colbert

I don’t know much about her but I’m open to listen. I don’t know how being against trans rights and Palestinian statehood will play with the national party and donors. But she comes from a strong family and her success would be a massive political symbol. What do we think?

Priscilla Williams-Till, a cousin of 14-year-old lynching victim Emmett Till, is running for U.S. Senate in Mississippi as a Democrat against incumbent Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith. She says that Hyde-Smith's infamous remark about being "on the front row" at a public hanging helped inspire her to run.

She’s already come out with “Biden, this - transgender that - soft on crime - blah blah blah”. So predictable. It won’t play in Mississippi. We must beat her by any means necessary. Media will play a HUGE role. Scott Colom for the ‘sip!

Ashton Pittman@ashtonpittman.bsky.social

NEW: When Biden nominated Scott Colom to a federal court, U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith used the Senate's "blue slip" tradition to block his nomination. Now, instead of a federal judgeship, Colom is aiming to unseat her in the Senate. @heatherharrison.bsky.social reports on his campaign launch:

Putin, Trump and Reeves all agree that mail-in voting is bad Currently 36 states, both red states and blue states, have universal mail-in voting. Most had mail-in voting when Trump won in 2016, lost in 2020 and won again in 2024.
