Root beat Ark Nova (#BGG number two) 62-37, came through Pandemic 57-43, and has won every match on personality and the stories it creates. Lords of Waterdeep has more players behind it than Root does. This one is closer than the billing might suggest. Which way are you voting?

7 Wonders is a card-drafting civilisation builder that plays up to seven people in 45 minutes with nobody waiting for their turn. It beat Azul in the closest match of the tournament, then knocked out Wingspan in the quarter finals.

It's a bit late but here's my play stats for July. More quicker lighter games this month with Hospital visiting and a holiday and finalising a house sale it's been a full on month. What did you enjoy playing most last month? #BoardGames #TabletopGames #BoardGameGeek #GameNight

Cascadia won the Kennerspiel des Jahres in 2022. It teaches in five minutes, plays in 45, and is the kind of game that works for almost any group on almost any occasion. My vote goes to Terraforming Mars. I want to see it in the semi finals.

Terraforming Mars has been on the BGG top ten for the best part of a decade. Deep, complex, and full of card combinations that take multiple plays to fully appreciate. It is one of the games that got me properly into the hobby.

It builds an engine over 90 minutes in a beautifully illustrated bird-filled wildlife preserve. It has not been seriously tested at any point in the draw. #7Wonders drafts a civilisation in 45 minutes with up to seven players and nobody ever waits for their turn.

Ticket to Ride: Europe: claim train routes across the continent and complete destination tickets before your opponents block you. Pandemic: cooperative game where your team races to stop four diseases from overwhelming the world. Probably the most influential cooperative game ever made.

The game that gets people into the hobby vs the game that showed everyone what cooperative play could be. Who do you back? Comment your pick below and vote on the blog too: letsplaygames.uk/wor... #boardgames #worldcupofboardgames #tickettoride #pandemic #tabletop
