Purely out of interest, how are the rest of you spending your Monday evening… (Might be a late one up the #LetterWritingShed) #THLAS9 😄🍻📦🎶🎉

Thank you so much for making our #THLAS9 celebrations so lovely! I wish you all friends as kind and generous and creative as those in The Handwritten Letter Appreciation Society. So grateful, you special people. (Pat et al are hoping for cake and fizzy later) #DeskGallery 🥳💌🎉

The Handwritten Letter Appreciation Society is 9 years old today! Thanks everso to members, followers, supporters and letter writers everywhere for helping to inspire all those years of encouraging the world to keep writing letters. What would be a good way to celebrate? 🥳✉️🍰🎉

It’s our 9th birthday on Monday 26th October. We haven’t made any big plans to celebrate this year, but if you’re near a sandy beach this half-term do write our name in the sand. Sending a letter or postcard to a loved one would be a lovely way to help us celebrate too. 🥳🏖️✉️🎉

It’s #TrafalgarDay, today. I think about the brilliance of Horatio Nelson a lot because 1) he keeps me company in the Letter Writing Shed, and 2) I hold a piece of HMS Victory in my hand most days in the form of a letter opener gifted to me by our late great member, Don. 🥰🇬🇧✉️🎉

“This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle, This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars, This other Eden, demi-paradise… This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.” (Pat’s always prone to a bit of Shakespeare out on his rounds with views like this) 😄🚗☕️🐈‍⬛⛰️

In celebration of our 9th birthday on 26th October, please can everyone write to Alistair Cochrane, CEO of Royal Mail, to tell him what letter writing means to you. The reasons I hear are so moving, I want him to know too. It’s FREEPOST, Royal Mail, PO Box 76085, London, EC1P 1HA. Thanks everso! 🥳💌

Stamped Addressed Envelopes that arrived over the weekend heading out with THLAS postcards later today. Still time to send for some if you’d like to. (Send a SAE to THLAS, PO Box 9347, Swanage, Dorset, BH19 9BG) ☺️✉️👍

Only really wanted to order 250 more Society postcards, but it was cheaper in the end to buy 1,000… Anyway, if anyone would like some (would 5 be a good number?) just send a SAE to THLAS, PO Box 9347, BH19 9BG and I can send you some. 😄✉️👍

They seem such a small part of the landscape, but they have such a big impact in keeping us connected with letters we post in them and the posties that go to every house in the country delivering them. A humble but mighty sign of the power of a postal service. #PostboxSaturday 📮

A little teaser too… Axel Scheffler is a fantastic champion of letters and postcards, as well as The Handwritten Letter Appreciation Society, and how I’m not going to let the cat out of the bag by next year’s #WorldPostcardDay will be anyone’s guess! Save the date! 🤩📮🎉

@letterappsoc.bsky.social My youngest granddaughter has gone to uni. I sent my first letter last week. "Thanks SO much for my letter! I loved it as I'm missing everyone. Can't wait for the next one" ❤️ Very Happy to oblige! I wrote to her sister most weeks for 4 years!

Here’s hoping you’ve all had a wonderful #WorldPostcardDay wherever you are. Thanks so much to the fab posties in our midst. I know you know, but how incredible that you get to collect and deliver all those snippets of people’s lives direct to someone’s hands and heart. ☺️🫶🌏💌

Happy #PostboxSaturday from this George V pillar box in Oban, known as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’ because it serves as the main ferry port for travel to the Inner and Outer Hebrides. 💌🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 @letterappsoc.bsky.social
