A fun fact about me is: In the mid to late 1990s I fancied myself as a sort of independent movie critic. From that it's really cool to see new generations enjoy forgotten movies I loved but were panned (Event Horizon, Starship Troopers) and hate on shit movies that were loved by critics (Contact).

It's an experience I think really shaped my writing style and feel for well placed contrarian takes. It helps to have excellent taste, too, though that level of nuance is now gone.

Still working on my Villanova/Lehigh recap, which will get done, I promise, if only for myself. But this paragraph stood out to me. You won't get this from any other recap on the planet.

Analyze Josh Allen. Analyze everything that makes him great - instant juice when he's in a game, can huck the ball any crazy way to make plays, hugely mobile, have to respect his great mobility and can win games with his feet. Think of a player that is the opposite of all that. That's Tanner McKee.

Thank you. Thank you! Thank you!!!!!!!!! @jeremylittau.com I am not crazy. Reese's Peanut Butter cups are shit and have been shit from about thine I stopped eating them since they didn't taste like peanut butter, more like Frankenoily crap.

Shough looks like a great QB like 85% of the time then has like 3 throws a game where you're like what the everloving hell that end in interceptions or near-interceptions

What a game. Lehigh dug themselves into too big a hole, came two yards away from redemption, and couldn't get it. Another battle, another finish just short. Admirable battle to get back in it, but didn't come out fast, and it ended up costing them. Villanova 21, Lehigh 18, final.

End of 3Q, Lehigh 10, Villanova 21. Championship games find ways to win these games. Can Lehigh get back in this? It's a two score game and they have the ball back.

The first phase of a comeback is complete - the Yoder TD. The next phase was a stop. Lehigh gets it, forcing a fumble on 3rd down, which Nova recovered. Villanova will punt.

End of the 1st half, it's Villanova 21, Lehigh 0. A pretty dreadful half of football on the Lehigh side, can't sugar coat it. I desperately wanted the defense to send a message. They didn't, really. Now Lehigh's in the same hole they were last week, only worse.

End of the 1st quarter, Lehigh 0, Villanova 7. The WIldcats start the game with an impressive time-consuming drive, and since then it's been an exchange of punts. Lehigh offense hasn't got out of their own end yet.

Chris Berman just gave Lehigh a nice shoutout at the halftime interview of the Cornell Brown game..."no one beats Lehigh at this level".

I don't know who needs to hear this but Paris has been lovely, peaceful all this week. Even today with the scheduled protests and some storefronts and metro stops closed, everyone is just out living their lives and all the bars, restaurants, etc are packed

As I finish my final prep for the game this afternoon, here is my Keys to the Game and Fearless Prediction this week. If you want these earlier (and a lot more), subscribe to the Lehigh Sports Nation newsletter.

I was going over last year's 14-7 FCS playoff win by Villanova over Lehigh in the playoffs last season for my preview. It was a classic with so little separating the two teams. One of of the best games I ever witnessed, despite the outcome.

All through the post game Kevin Cahill, and I think some of the players, emphasized that "Next year, this is a league game." "Next year" is here this weekend at Villanova.

Normally I hate AI slop with the heat of a thousand suns, but when it comes up with an AI Jamies saying “When God closes one door, he opens another, and sometimes that door has JJ McCarthy standing behind it”, I have to admit I paused, laughed, and double checked it wasn't real
