Day 100: Links to the 5 Top Posts Links to the 5 top posts in my 100 Days of Art Project reveal a strong interest in my abstract work. This is both surprising and pleasing.
Day 99: Arts Trail Eve Tomorrow I throw open the doors of my studio to the public as part of the Golden Plains Arts Trail. This event is about art and community.
Day 98: My Brand New Tea Towels I am announcing my brand new tea towels. Each tea towel is 100% Certified Organic Cotton and they are printed in Australia.
Day 97: Printing Scarves This year, at my open studio, I only have a few scarves for sale. I love the designs But I want to find a new way of printing scarves
Day 96: Coming Back to an Old Artwork Is coming back to an old artwork possible? My head is in a different place now, but I see something in this image.
Day 95: Framing Art. Aaaahhhh! Framing art is hard for many artists. Professional framing is great, but not always affordable. Studio framing can help the artist and buyer.
Day 94: Abstracting the Self – 5 Thoughts As an introvert, how do you promote yourself in the public as an artist? One way might be through abstracting the self. However, I’m at the point where I need to face up to the camera.
Day 93: Optimism and Creation In 2025 I am testing out fabric panels for textile artists. I have a few designs and a few different formats: hand printed, inkjet printed, printed through Spoonflower. I have other ideas, but this is where I am starting. Come and chat to me during the Arts Trail…
My entry into painting came from photography. Light is crucial in photography. This was beneficial to the way I paint colour in my abstract landscapes. lisaghunter.com/2025/04/04/d... #photography #colour #colourandlight #lightandshadow #landscape #tone #lisaghuntercreative #lisaghunter
Day 91: Title and Story in Art The painting on my easel in the studio is almost finished. It is at the point where I stop and consider the title and story of the artwork. What is it about, and what do I want to convey?
Day 90: Individual Quilting Blocks In this post I have questions for you. What size quilting blocks do you prefer? What colour borders are best? Anything else? Leave me a comment.
Day 89: Sketch Club Watercolour Yesterday morning members of the Sketch Club group gathered together for a couple of hours. My watercolour WIP watercolour is not finished, but it is stylistically different to my abstract landscapes. I think I will finish it with some inked thin lines.
Day 88: Digital Soft Focus Vivid colour is usually at the core of my art. So this image stands out to me. The photograph I took is of an Australian native lily called Milkmaids. Editing it in Photoshop, I decided to bring out the softness of the flower. For a long time it hung on my wall, but now…
Day 87: Displaying Art Is A Different Skill Displaying art is a different skill than creating. This is becoming more evident to me because I now have some display units.
Day 86: Visiting Cockatoos You may wonder what Cockatoos have to do with art, or with life. For me, they are intricately connected. Each day, I look for them. They lift my spirits. I talk to them, and they listen, putting their heads to the side to take it all in. With my illness, this small…
Day 85: One Geometric Design Later… This post is about learning from print on demand sites like Redbubble. Feeling out of sorts and unmotivated. I promised myself I would do a quick watercolour. One geometric design later, I was inspired to put it on Redbubble. Look what happened.
Day 84: My New Abstract Diptych I think some of my rage is captured in 'Fire and Flood'. Hopefully it captures some beauty too. Right now, I am only going to share some glimpses. I want to keep the full reveal for my open studio. This is on the weekend of Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th April as…
Day 83: Wildflower Photographs There HAS to be a post about wildflowers in my 100 Days of Art. People in my life know how much time I spend photographing, writing about, and creating based on wildflowers.
Day 82: Abstract Watercolour Sketches in A6 Today I am painting abstract sketches in A6 size. The works are very loose and intuitive. I need to put them aside for a few days and before I look at them afresh. It always takes a bit of distance to know what I really think of any work. The four small…
Day 81: Texture and Colour in Nature Even in the driest time of year, the bushland is a constant source of information for me. Texture and colour in nature is inspiring because it is often surprising
Day 80: Abstract Prints Printing with a gel plate is one of those immediate pleasures. It's instant gratification with intriguing abstract prints
Open Studio in April 2025 My art studio will be open as part of the 2025 Golden Plains Arts Trail. I’m Stop 7 on the North Trail, in Dereel.
Day 79: Texture I can Feel My abstract landscape paintings don’t feel complete unless there is texture I can feel. The texture is as important as the colour and form.
Day 78: A Quick Abstract Watercolour A quick abstract watercolour painting felt so good. It only took about half and hour, plus drying time, but it almost feels complete.
Day 77: Linear Abstraction While I still love painting with big free brush strokes, lately I have been playing with linear abstraction. As I work, I find a tension between enjoying the different marks and wanting to turn them into organic forms by curling and bending them.
Day 76: Trusting Your Vision Trust your own artistic vision. Listen to others, view lots of creative works, learn. But always trust your own artistic vision.
Day 75: Abstract and Intuitive ‘city Lights in the Rain’ feels as though it ranged from intuitive to abstract, and then figurative work. It’s quite distinct from my other paintings.
Day 74: WIP for my Open Studio At the moment I am busy creating work for the upcoming Golden Plains Arts Trail. This is a section of a WIP for my open studio on the weekend of 12th and 13th April. The work is called 'Gold and Greenhoods'. This time, I am taking a comparatively figurative approach…
Day 73: Abstract Nature When I look back on photographs I have taken, I see abstraction in these as well. When I post them, I use the term abstract nature.
Day 72: Using Prompts to Create Here is a prompt I created as part of a set. The photograph shows the centre of an Iris flower. In writing classes, from writing texts, journaling texts and more, using prompts to create was frequent. Mostly, it’s a way to start. A warm up exercise. Often, prompts…
Day 71: Working on my Arts Trail Display As a person who struggles with setting up neat displays, I’m starting to set up my Arts Trail display now.
Day 70: Ink on Paper Ink on paper is so much fun. Playing around is a big part of learning. This work was pure play and probably will be cut up for collage. Play! Play for yourself. Learn what you love and use it for inspiration in future works.
Day 69: Mock-up Art Styling Preparing my work for social media and art sales websites often requires showing scale. The way most artists do this is using mock-up art styling templates.
Day 68: 12 Abstract Landscapes I love painting abstract landscapes. Lost in the work, the cares of the world disappear. It's just me and the colours. 12 Abstract Landscapes are shown in a gallery in this post. It also has details about the Golden Plains Arts Trail.
Day 67: Hand Printing Fabric for Textile Art One of my current projects is hand printing fabric for textile art with the focus being on texture. In this case a linear texture.
Day 66: The Fascination of Fallen Leaves If you could see the photographs I’ve taken over the last twelve years, you’d find many of fallen leaves. The fascination of fallen leaves surprises me. They seem to draw me to them. Why is that?
Day 65: Gel Plate with Acrylics and Inktense My home is surrounded by trees, and I am forever picking up interesting leaves. I have a box of dry leaves in my studio. To get into the creative zone, I often work on a gel plate. Mostly I use acrylic paints, but depending on which brand, I may use ink.
Day 64: Underpainting in Acrylics People often ask me how I start my paintings, so I decided to put together a collage showing some examples. Examples are better than descriptions for this topic. There is no plan. I simply respond to colours and tools that appeal on the day.
Day 63: Scarf Designs, POD and Redbubble Creating a new artwork for Redbubble today, I realised a few I need to change the way I print my scarf designs sooner rather than later.
