Doubling down on a failed policy that is increasingly unpopular and puts National Guard members at risk for a hateful white nationalist immigration policy? That's a bold strategy, Cotton.
Bondi: "Yes, we are bringing in our National Guard to every city we possibly can who needs our help. And that's a lot of them."

Commenting on something Trump posted online by saying that it was likely written by someone else adds nothing to the conversation. I don't give a rat's ass how Trump authors the content he publishes under his name—if he published it, he said it. Stop focusing on conspiracy theories about authorship.

I'm sure she's fine with this—as if she's anything else, or takes any action to interfere in this situation, she needs to resign today. America can't have government officials who adopt one policy for their friends and family and one for strangers. She either needs to say this is fine or quit today.

If there's another pandemic during a Trump presidency, the death toll may well end up being in the tens of millions You will lose friends and neighbors who didn't have to die but did die purely because some incredibly mediocre, juvenile, largely uneducated dickwads wanted to play at being Big Men
Breaking News: The CDC quietly appointed Dr. Ralph Lee Abraham, who has been critical of vaccines, as its second in command. During the Covid pandemic, he promoted discredited treatments like ivermectin and, as Louisiana’s surgeon general, halted the state’s mass vaccination campaign.

The American Right is utterly lost. These are people who insist they're smarter than us but pretend to be unable to pronounce the words "Kamala," "Mamdani," or "Democratic Party" (as opposed to the incorrect "Democrat Party"). They invade and bankrupt US cities while giving $40 billion to Argentina.

The reason Trump illegally used an anonymous billionaire to pay soldiers during the Epstein Shutdown is because he's going to need troops for the Insurrection Act and martial law. The reason he'll let the poor die is because he doesn't give a shit about them. Their lives don't advance his schemes.

The parallel is almost too neat: a demolition of something sacred carried out under the auspices of improvement. In both cases, the act is cloaked in the language of renewal but animated by ego, sustained by spectacle, and shadowed by the pursuit of personal gain.

(🧵) A key irony in what is now happening in Portland, Chicago, Los Angeles, Memphis, and D.C. is something I have not heard much discussed: in order to meet the high legal standard for deployment of federal troops, Trump must not only argue but establish by evidence that his agents are... incapable.

It was always easy for our military to terrorize citizens as Miller describes. That's not the point. The point is that this is America—not the Third Reich—and OUR MILITARY ISN'T TO BE USED THIS WAY. Anyone who can't understand and accept this was NEVER a fan of America, democracy, or rule of law.
Stephen Miller: "All that bullshit is done, over, it's finished. The gangbangers you deal with- they think they're ruthless? They have no idea how ruthless we are. They think they're tough? They have no idea how tough we are. They think they're hardcore? We are so much more hardcore than they are"

Yep. Far-right discourse on crime has *nothing* to do with crime. It’s irrational cowards obsessed with myths, urban legends, and rank prejudice talking themselves into believing their delusions have an association with reality. Far-right fear of crime should be in the next edition of the DSM-VI.
There’s a theme here, between Miller and Vermeule, which is that the authoritarian right has a view of “order” which has nothing to do with actual crime and has everything to do with violently enforcing their preferred cultural hierarchies.
