Naval Aviator. 34-year airline pilot career. Enjoying retirement playing tunes every day. We’re all devo.

Pete Hegseth and his mother were not estranged for 48 years or since Pete was 12 years old. Republicans didn’t have much use for Mother Hegseth’s opinion on her son’s character in his confirmation hearings. Then again, Hegseth’s mom didn’t enable a child rapist to victimize her own child.

Trump on Adam Hamilton, Kansas Sen candidate and mega-church pastor, last night in Wichita, “Supposedly, he’s a pastor. Yeah, right. If he was a Christian, he would be voting for us. He’s not a pastor. He’s a pervert.” is simultaneously the most un-American and un-Christian thing he could say.

Will he end ROTC at colleges across the country? Cadet or midshipman military classes and drill periods are led by active duty officers and enlisted personnel. Otherwise the prospective officers are in regular college courses with civilian classmates and professors.

Hegseth says, "Civilian academic norms dilute our focus on lethality." I don’t know of any studies indicating that officers who joined the military after ROTC are any less “lethal” than those who attended service academies.

34-year career as a airline pilot. I met some interesting colleagues from all walks of life. Not sure I ever worked with a furry. Tuberville is off his rocker. He was a competent football coach at my alma mater. A US Senator? Not so much.

Swalwell is gone. Toast. Boebert is still there. The GOP is supporting Max Miller’s reelection campaign. McConnell occupies a position with no capacity to execute. Johnson recessed Congress multiple times to avoid votes. Both parties may be addicted to big money, but they are not “the same.”

Karl Rove mocking Trump at The Atlantic Festival is beyond ironic. Why give Rove a moment of publicity? There is a direct, straight-line relation from his (anonymously attributed) statement “we are history’s actors…we create our own reality,” to where we are today with this lying administration.

huffpost.comThe Reality-Based Community And Trump's Orwellian DystopiaThe term "truth," which once indicated a claim supported by incontestable facts, has, because of Trump, been re-defined.

There’s an old saying in the Navy that “a bitching sailor is a happy sailor.” That applies when talking about restricted liberty in port or KP duty or Navy life in general, but not this bullshit.

The Secretary of Defense should be impeached over this. He fired the Chief of Naval Operations, he decimated senior naval leadership, including logistics support, for nothing other than “macho.”

It’s also important to note that the Abraham Lincoln is the flagship of a battlegroup. We’re not talking one ship here, but a flotilla of war fighting ships that are being abused in a manner not seen even in war (since this is apparently still an excursion or diversion or something).

Republicans have Rick Scott, former CEO of HCA, shilling Medicare waste, fraud & abuse; Ken Paxton, adulterer, running on traditional values; Marco Rubio, anchor baby, fighting birthright citizenship; Richard Hudson, ballot harvester, touting election security. All for a con man, not the people.

Richard Hudson (R-NC9) is an election denier. He voted to exclude state electors from AZ and PA in the J6 certification of Joe Biden’s victory. Mark Harris (R-NC8) hired a political operative that engaged in absentee ballot fraud in 2018. It can be hard to keep all the Republican scandals apart.

Todd Blanche is meeting with Republican senators to shore up his confirmation chances. That includes Senator Bill Cassidy. So, is the doctor that gave us RFKjr to destroy the public health system, now going to vote to confirm the President’s personal lawyer to destroy the justice system as well?

Rand Paul referring Fauci to the DOJ and US Attorney for DC for possible criminal prosecution is itself outside the law. Contempt of a committee must be referred to the parent chamber for action. Paul knows he can’t get 60 senators to vote for referral, so he’s trying an end run on the process.

My senator Thom Tillis’ legacy will be his deciding votes for Hegseth and for Blanche. Other than those 2 spineless prostrations he’ll be forgotten to history. May the ghosts of Terry Sanford, Sam Ervin and every other North Carolinian with a conscience haunt him all his days.

MS NOW reports that tomorrow’s vote on confirming Blanche may be canceled, citing Thom Tillis. Why consider a vote before Blanche has to produce unredacted Epstein files on Friday related to Katy Phang’s lawsuit. His response is all they need to know about his potential tenure as AG.

Should have been a question mark in that middle paragraph. The court-ordered deadline to produce the files in question is tomorrow (Thursday) at 3p. It’s spelled “Katie.” Maybe I should start over. 😜

Flashback to the end of Biden’s term. The PRESS Act passed the House unanimously, yet Schumer wouldn’t bring it to a vote in the Senate. Look where we are now with reporters subpoenaed, threatened and cowering. Hate to say I told you so, but no one seemed concerned enough to act when they had the

Press Act story is getting buried by the carnival Cabinet show. Bill passed UNANIMOUSLY in the House. Now a single Senator can prevent its passage. I’ve posted before that the 4th Estate is our only hope for making it to the midterms. Why would T oppose a unanimous press freedom bill? Why else?

Todd Blanche authorized subpoenas to NYT reporters. The judge in the case just gave the DoJ a choice-withdraw them or have them quashed. Why are we considering confirming an AG nominee that repeatedly defies court orders, disrespects the 1st Amendment and considers himself to be Trump’s lawyer?

Republicans have funded ICE to the tune of tens of billions of dollars, yet no body cameras make it to the front lines where thugs are killing legal immigrant workers and American citizens. This is not a logistics problem. It is a choice.

High prices are why Trump was elected and his failure to lower them. Are Republicans staring down the barrel of a brutal midterm? It’s not just that Trump didn’t lower prices It’s that he raised them by starting a war no one wanted against a country no one thought was an imminent threat and he lost

I have little doubt that Ken Paxton is a worse human being than John Cornyn. Still, the shadenfreude is pretty sweet watching a guy that voted 99.2% with Trump get thrown under the bus. Good riddance.

With the slush fund paying a private militia and states enacting voter suppression laws, I wonder what else we have in store. Remember the Russia-linked bomb threats at polling locations in 2024? Whatever became of that? Did Vlad assure Trump that it was fake news? That’s usually all it takes.

NEW: I've filed a claim with Todd Blanche for compensation from the $1.776B slush fund for the unlawful investigation by the government into my podcast in August 2019. I'm seeking $8.647 million in compensation for weaponized lawfare - the equivalent of punitive damages, lost pay and retirement.

I’ve seen headlines reporting the settlement (slush fund) in the Trump IRS case as $1.7 or $1.8 billion. It’s worse than that. They’re trolling us. The settlement is $1.776 billion. 1776, get it?
