If we discount the laptop i used for several years, because it was free from a skip, then probably the cd player I've been using for 34 years.

What item has given you best value in terms of use? I bought a secondhand Herman-Miller Aeron chair for about £500 in ~2009. Must have used it nearly every day since. Reckon it has another fifteen years in it.

I wonder how many are out there who probably could claim universal credit but like me don't. Professionals who remain confident a job is just round the corner, or pick up just enough work to make it not worth the hassle. LinkedIn would suggest unemployment mat well be a lot higher than stated.

As I struggle to find software development work and consider other options, but also think about true creativity being devalued, I wonder will AI lead us back to a subsistence level economy? Live music for food and board anyone? Travelling theatre groups like the old days.

Nothing like some furious D&B to carry you through job applications. 30 years ago I thought this was all a bit cheesy. Compared to nowadays, not so much. Anybody need a python developer? You can pay me in beef hula hoops and irn bru.

Things I have realised while driving 260 miles today: ...And Justice For All remains a great album. Seasons of Your Day is my 2nd favourite Mazzy Star album and it pushes So Tonight... pretty hard. Silent Shout by The Knife is extraordinary.

Lucky Strike: determining the probability of a Tusken Raider hitting a high speed pod racer from distance by analysis of historical blast marks considered too accurate for Sandpeople.

Your Number's Up: determining the true number of Tusken Raiders by examining the microconcretion of sand particles from a single file track.

A lot of people will no doubt think calls for MON to go are knee jerk but despite the initial league wins, I've not seen universal praise. Quite the opposite in fact. The general feeling I've seen is that we've mostly struggled across the line in a continuation of the end of last season.

As for his apparent leaked comments about the squad being weaker, that's the cry of a flailing man unsure what to do. a) I'm not convinced it's true; b) but if it was, that's the result of being DDs pal and not demanding better. It's time to go. Maloney can keep the non internationals for now.

Things I was frightened of as a child: New fern leaves uncurling because they reminded me of all the snake heads on the Hydra in my ladybird book of famous legends.

Things I was frightened of when I was a child: The flying monkeys from Wizard of Oz Nuclear war The theme song from Big Blue Marble (I think because my sister the witch terrified me) Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

Spending a lot of time redoing a litany of bad work by a previous owner of my 1997 Toyota Celica convertible.

What are you doing with your midlife existential crisis? No wrong answers. Just trying to see something, as the kids say.
