What kind of country are we becoming when compassion takes a back seat to cruelty? When fear drives policy more than facts? History has shown us what happens when people are dehumanized and labeled as “others.” We can’t repeat those mistakes. This isn’t about politics. It’s about humanity.

“The forest was shrinking but the trees kept voting for the axe, for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood, he was one of them”

Fun story. My son had surgery in November to relocate an organ that was located in the wrong place and was unable to function properly. It was preapproved by insurance because it was medically necessary. He’s 8. Got a letter from insurance today. THEY DENIED ANESTHESIA.

Controversial opinion/thought: “Reusable paper towels , that you can wash!” Umm, do you mean dish towels/washcloths? Just skip the paper towels, grab a washcloth, wipe up your mess, toss in the hamper. Voila! A reusable “paper towel.” No need to reinvent the wheel. 💁🏼‍♀️

Just thinking back on how TV’s used to be super staticky. Like when you ran your hand on it, the tv had a static smell. I can’t explain it but if you know you know.

Happy 2025 Bluesky friends! I’d like to pose a question. Do you believe life has inherent meaning, or do we create our own purpose? #philosophy #discuss #blueskyphilosophers #bluesky #peacefuldiscussions

I believe we create our own purpose by pursuing what excites and inspires us. For me, that’s working toward a greener future, more inclusivity, doing community service/volunteering, and continuously learning to make a positive impact. But I also feel that life is a purpose of nature.

Best Thanksgiving I’ve had in ages. Zero arguments. Nobody making passive aggressive remarks. Removing the toxic side of my family has been a true blessing and I am grateful for peace in my life. Here in this cyberspace of Bluesky and at home.

Every day is a new chance to learn, grow, and make a difference—no matter how small. 🌟 Keep moving forward with kindness, curiosity, and purpose! 💙

Years ago, I used one of those texting apps that gives you a random number, to text my loved ones “cat facts” all the time. If they replied with “Stop” I would send twice the cat facts. They’d be things like “Cats make over 100 sounds, while dogs only make around 10. Chatty cattys! MEE-OOW!” 🐈

Just a cute mushy I met while hiking this summer. You can’t tell from the picture but this cutie was about as big around as a plate. #mushrooms #fungi

At this point, twitter is about as relevant as a flip phone. You can still use it, but there’s only one main demographic that generally does.

When I was studying Philosophy in college, we discussed Daniel Dennett’s “Where Am I?” I woke up reflecting on this, and I’m curious: If your consciousness could be copied/transferred to another body/machine, would the new version still be ‘you’? What defines the continuity of personal identity?

My husband has a niche for taking pictures of insects. He’s not here yet, he doesn’t use much social media because he’s used to it being toxic. So until he gives in and joins us, I’ll share some of his captures. :) #insectphotography #naturephotography #earthshinephotography
