For anyone in California who is trying to figure out all the ballot initiatives for the midterms, CalMatters makes it really quick to find out how /you/ should vote! Remember: If you don't vote, you forfeit the right to complain about anything. calmatters.org/california-v...

calmatters.orgQuiz: How will you vote on propositions?Learning about California's 14 ballot propositions can be a lot of work. Take our quiz to see your values and priorities align with each of the measures.

And if you hate billionaires (you should!), remember to vote Yes on 40, and No on 41 & 42 (which are designed to negate 40). And that's the end of me talking politics✨

Randomly read the wiki for hiragana because I wanted to remember what the deprecated "we" and "ye" kana looked like. I had no idea how much the alphabet was basically standardized only in 1946. It's crazy that they could alter the entire language within living memory!

Good morning, bsky 🌅 I'm slightly paralyzed by wanting to start too many projects at once, but being intimidated by the work or scale. A one-page comic, a 6-page prequel to Field Mouse, making up for the missed summer solstice drawing, drawing Malon, restarting my Japanese studies...

After putting it off for almost a year, I finally watched Cosmic Princess Kaguya. I'd say it was pretty good until that last 30m where it just lost me for a number of reasons. Could've cut it and it would've been fine. They tried too hard for a happy ending that I feel negated its own impact.

It's always weird to me when I read a doujin and characters say they love each other based on nothing but the fact they're having sex or that they know them vaguely in passing. I wonder if that's like how people become a couple /before/ they date (at least in JP media tropes).

When I wrote my doujin, I made sure to avoid that. At most, there's a fascination between the two characters and a desire to know more which I hope to one day flesh out (time willing), but it wasn't lovey-dovey--it was a partial blind date that went well. I am picky about silly things in fiction.
