Millions pumped into AI so "more time can be spent with patients and not on admin" is bullshit. AI doesn't work. Just give the 600m to the NHS. I worked with a radiographer who tested AI by giving it 5 x-rays to diagnose. It was wrong every single time. Fuck AI

£600m in cuts to NHS back office to force the NHS to rely more on AI is genuinely insane shit.

Queen released their sixth studio album, “News of the World” on this day in 1977. This is an underrated gem in the band’s catalog as far as I’m concerned. “Sheer Heart Attack” and “Spread Your Wings” are my favourites tracks off this album. Thoughts? Favourite tracks? #QueenBand

theclimatewatch.comSouth African schoolgirls turn COP17 stage into a call for natureFrom Sharpeville to the global biodiversity stage in Yerevan, the young ambassadors highlight how education, cultural expression and equal participation can turn environmental commitments into action. Five South African schoolgirls use song, dance and poetry to urge world leaders to move from biodiversity promises to action. Far from the negotiation rooms, five girls from a South African township brought the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP17) to its feet on Tuesday, turning poetry, music and dance into a plea to protect nature. The five young biodiversity ambassadors from Sharpeville, in Gauteng province, performed on Education Day, which focused on the role of learning in conserving the natural world. “Protecting nature means protecting the future young people will inherit,” the UN Biodiversity Secretariat said in a social media post about the performance. The post stressed how formal, non-formal and informal education can help young people understand biodiversity and act to protect it. The girls, from Tsoaranang Primary School and Lekoa Shandu Secondary School, are Keabetswe Kambule, Matlotlo Mofokeng, Itumeleng Magaqa, Itumeleng Motaung and Alice Mmakgosi Mojaki. A Climate Watch special correspondent met them at the Yerevan venue as they chanted slogans for biodiversity conservation. From a local stage to a global one Their...

dw.comIs Iran moving toward war or peace after Mecca alliance meeting in Tehran?Amid rising fear that the US and Israel are preparing to launch new attacks on Iran after the US midterm election on November 3, three major Middle Eastern powers delivered a coordinated diplomatic message directly to Tehran. Pakistan's army chief Asim Munir, Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin all traveled to Iran to meet Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and senior officials in Tehran this Monday. The three envoys serve as representatives for the Mecca defense pact — a military alliance of Islamabad, Riyad and Ankara, which was officially set up this summer. Saudi Arabia said the trip aims to open negotiating channels and "prevent the return of military escalation." Details on the agenda, however, remain scarce. A senior Pakistani official cited by the Reuters news agency said the talks focused on building a regional non-aggression network, in addition to US-Iran talks, Houthi rebels' attacks on Saudi Arabia, the Strait of Hormuz and the US naval blockade. Another official said Pakistan's Munir presented Iran with a solution to the conflict that would offer something both to Washington and Iran, with the three Mecca states and Qatar acting as mediators. The source told Reuters US President...

The gap between Burnham's words and his Chancellor’s Budget is stark. We didn’t see reforms that would make the wealthiest pay fair taxes on their income from assets, nor a fair tax on the extraordinary profits banks have been making. 2/4

This Budget was meant to be a turning point for Britain to put the country on a different path, promised by Burnham. But whilst Healey’s support on the cost of living and doing business will be welcomed, if we’re being honest, it pales in comparison to what was needed... 🧵1/4

downtoearth.org.inAt least 25 women and girls killed every day in armed conflicts worldwide, UN saysWomen and girls accounted for one in four civilians killed in armed conflicts worldwide in 2025, double their share in 2021, according to a new United Nations report. More than 37,000 civilians were killed in conflicts last year, with at least 25 women and girls losing their lives every day, the UN Secretary-General’s 2026 report on Women, Peace and Security said. The report, released on October 26, also found that approximately 750 million women and girls now live within 50 km of an active conflict, 40 million more than in 2024 and the highest number since 1990. “More women and girls are trapped in wars than at any point in decades,” said UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous. She warned that military spending continued to rise while development assistance declined, despite the growing need for investment in conflict prevention and peacebuilding. The report found that cases of conflict-related sexual violence verified by the UN nearly quadrupled between 2022 and 2025. Around 170 million women and girls live in both conflict-affected areas and extreme poverty, surviving on less than $3 (Rs 285.47) a day. They account for almost 40 per cent of all women and girls living in extreme poverty globally...
